I had wanted to address the issue earlier in other threads, but no, the Great Temple on Yavin IV was never designed as "Massassi temple", that's pure EU conjecture. Excerpt from my "Yavin IV pages":

    Who or what is Massassi?
“The pirate ship soars over the dense jungle” scene has the title “fourth moon of Yavin” but switches to “Massassi Outpost” in the next scene featuring the guard standing on a temple, and refers to the matte painting shot as “Massassi Outpost - jungle temple”. The Great Hall annotation in The Star Wars Portfolio refers to “Massasi stronghold” (in an early script that was the name of an Imperial fortress). No line says “Massassi Temple” which leaves it inconclusive whether Massassi is the actual name of the moon, a codename Rebels used not to accidentally disclose the location of their hidden base (Yavin IV), or the name of the original natives and/or the Force users that used to live or reign there (according to Expanded Universe speculation, e.g. The Illustrated Star Wars Universe).

Regarding the question whether it's an ancient Jedi or Sith temple, we must first get the answer whether we can be certain or not whether the temple on Lothal in Rebels was truly a genuine Jedi temple...

I know. "Massassi Temple" was first used in an Archie Goodwin comic.

By the way, can I see the rest of your "Yavin IV pages"?

^^ These are 22 pages but they focus entirely on the facts we could learn or conclude from the film footage, the novelization and the radio drama and a structural and cultural analysis of the Great Temple.

Somewhat in reply to your other post in another thread, the gas planet Yavin has four moons, but only three can support life.

The novelization also wondered how the gargantuan exterior blocks could have been cut and moved, which I believe is the basis for the theory that Force users must have lived or reigned there.

What I found rather interesting was that it's quite obvious that the Great Temple features a contrast in construction techniques (both the exterior and the interior).
On the one hand you have these gargantuan blocks that must have been erected with modern techniques (or the Force) and these perfectly sculpted fluted columns in the interior, on the other hand the support bases for both were build using ancient, traditional ashlar block techniques.
Makes one wonder, why gargantuan blocks were not used as support bases, too.

The uncomfortable impression is apparently that one group had to apply time-consuming and harsh and exhausting building techniques, while the other group applied modern or "magic" techniques. This also reflects in the (EU) statue of Exar Kun and the Blueleaf and Woolamander Temple:
After several thousand years, the statue of Exar Kun is still in pristine condition, while the sculpture in the foreground of the (original version) temple has eroded. Also (according to McQuarrie) the Blueleaf Temple is still in perfect condition, while the Woolamander Temple has crumbled.

The overall impression is that of two castes of society (much like the Mayans) or one group that enslaved and abused another for its purposes.

After exhausting analysis I was finally able to estimate that the diameter of the Great Temple is at least 235 yards or 215 meters.

To do so I had to correct the erroneous live-action footage/matte painting composition, first.

Could the Rogue Squadron games become canon if remade?

Sent him a physical letter yesterday but if twitter is the way to ask him what he thought about it, then I'd really like to make use of that option. :)

If they remade them I have no doubt that they would have a new story that would be made canon. I'd love to see that, mentions of Rogue Squadron have been conspicuously absent from new canon material so far. I did notice that they referred to one of the Y-Wing squadrons in the Walker Assault mode on Battlefront as Rogue Squadron, so there's that I guess.

Rakata Prime is on a canon map of the galaxy that is set to be published in the TFA visual dictionary.

The absence of Alderaan (graveyard marker), Kessel, Bestine and Commenor (ANH novelization) doesn't make my day.

I have the uncomfortable impression that A New Hope and the George Lucas Canon that it is associated with (including novelizations and radio dramas) have taken a back seat or are increasingly becoming the fifth wheel in the nuCanon.

It almost feels as if the film that started it all and is the base for everything that followed now rather falls into the "Legends" category.

I wouldn't worry to much about the absence of certain planets from any given map, Leland Chee previously said that all of those planets are still out there, including all the ones from the EU. I've seen tons of different galaxy maps and they always vary in what planets are shown.

If canonized, Revan should remain mysterious. He shouldn't be seen unmasked or be given a gender.

I recently re-read Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy and to be honest I felt a bit underwhelmed by it ten+ years after reading it originally. The main trilogy characters all seemed a bit wishy-washy, especially Leia; Luke was more like Bespin Luke and didn't appear to be suffering from post-Jedi trauma; and Grand Admiral Thrawn's ability to predict battles using art just seemed a bit too errr...predictable and a cover for a lack of a more creative analysis. The only characters I felt any kind of affinity for were Talon Kaarde and his crew. Anyone else wish they'd never returned to the EU?

I told him personally back in 1993 in San Marino, Italy (Alliancecon), that art is usually the expression of the individual and not a reliable way to decuct a collective reaction in battle. Had I better listened to Maggie Nowakowska's Alliancecon Panel in 1991 (Joseph Campbell and the power of myth), I would have suggested to focus on collective mythology, next time. ;-)

I just didn't like these Force-immune lifeforms he created. After all, the Force was created by all living things, including these aforementioned lifeforms.

Is there room for the Kwa/Kwi on the canon Dathomir?

Possibly, although I doubt they would be a high priority among things that the LFSG would like to re canonize.

I have only a basic knowledge of legends material but watching TFA I was wondering if this was some kind of reference to old canon.

The planet Ossus was home to the Great Jedi Library (my understanding is that this is the first location founded by the Jedi order) and was once a lush planet covered mostly with water before an event of some kind. Sometime after the battle of Endor, Luke Skywalker returned to Ossus to find the Great Jedi Library and founded a new Jedi Temple (academy?) in the same location.

Could this possibly be what they based Ahch-To off of? I know that when Luke returned to Ossus it did not look like it did 5000 years ago but this could have been a detail left out in order to provide a contrast between Jakku and Ahch-To.
