A lot has been revealed in the last two weeks regarding Rebels and it seems to be building up to the season finale that's taking place in a few weeks from now. "Rebels Resolve" pushes us to closer to the finale, but does it make things clearer or...has it clouded everything? Kanan's fate is in the Empire's hands. What does that mean exactly? LET'S FIND OUT!

    SPOILIERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    LAST CHANCE!!!!!!!!

    What worked for me:

    - The crew of the Ghost worked quite nicely without Kanan.

    Minus Kanan .PNG

I've been saying for awhile that I think Kanan is going to die in the season finale and I think getting a chance to see how the crew does without him is interesting. We see Ezra take the helm of leadership more than I thought he would. Even Hera made a comment on how Ezra has taken up the role of leader where Kanan's capture left a giant hole. I can't help, but read into this the way I've been speculating.

    Ezra Force.PNG

Ezra takes his leadership to the next level by going against what Hera told the crew and not going after Kanan. Ezra tries to find ways to get information (more on that below) on where and how to find Kanan. IMO I think the show is prepping the eventual departure of Kanan by showing us how Ezra can take his mantle.

    - Hera's characterization stays true despite her heartbreak.

    Hera Gets IT.PNG

Even though we all knew that the crew would go after Kanan and rescue him, I like the fact that Hera's mind is still on the greater plan that is in order. The writers could have very easily had Hera feel so overwhelmed with sadness that she would have taken the lead of rescuing Kanan before Ezra, but instead she told them that his choice to stay behind was his alone and they all should honor it. We know that there is feelings there which are greater than freindship so I respect the fact she stayed the course in the wake of the greater good....at first anyway.

    - Vizago....Where have you been all season?

    V.PNG

I tend to fall for the more "Not really good, or bad" characters of Star Wars. Especially, if they are cool looking aliens. We haven't seen Vizago in awhile and the little screen time we had I couldn't help, but wish he was in it more. In this episode we get a chance to see that Vizago respects Ezra more than anyone on the Ghost. Even before Ezra shows him his Jedi powers to prove himself a Force wielder, Vizago seems to be open to helping him. This also stems from the "Droids In Distress" episode where Vizago mentions how Ezra sees things his way. Very interested in the bargain Ezra made with Vizago and what it will turn into.

    What didn't work for me:

    - Chopper....has....some sort of astro jet?

    Chopper.PNG

    *sigh*

    - Uneventful episode all together despite the few interesting moments.

    Torture.PNG

I wouldn't call this episode "bad", but it felt to me that this is the first act in a film rather than a 22 minute adventure for kids. The action takes place in the beginning and after that it kinda goes downhill from there regarding anything interesting happening. I would rather have this placed with the season finale as a film itself than a standalone episode. There are solid moments in it, but it screams like a "stop gap" episode more than anything. I'm sure when it's viewed with the finale I'll think of it much better....hopefully.

    Quick hitters:

    - Fullcrum's identity seems even more obvious....the voice distortion seems less aggressive.

    FULL.PNG

    - I'm not really sure what the Inqusitor is doing to Kanan here. Is he using a mind trick? Help me out.

    Inq.PNG

    - If only this new droid knew what was coming....

    New Droid.PNG

    - We see the continuation of Kallus's displeasure with the Inquisitor. Check out this look he gives him.

    Kallus.PNG

I'm Disappointed a bit in this episode. Mainly, because I have to wait awhile for the season finale to air and this was the episode to wet my appitite until then. Though it's not an action packed episode...it could end up being a bigger deal than I thought. I hope that's the case anyway....

As always, I look forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions regarding this episode. Did it satisfy all of you?

Till next time Star Warriors!!! (The cheese is swelling in me!)

That's the same propulsion system that chopper has used in the past, nothing new.

I got the impression the inquisitor was attempting to force choke Kanan, eecially with his comment about pain. I am also surprised he used some sort of artificial electric shock instead of using force lightning, but then again we have only seen true Sith use it in the past.

I don't beleive Kanan is going to die just yet. Someone has to continue Ezra's training, and I think Filoni relates too much with this character to make him a one season only character. Plus I thought we had rumors of him recording for season two, Unless of course he continues on as a force ghost, but Yoda, or someone, would have had to contact him somehow to train him in that ability.

With the comment from Hera about where Jedi go to die, if it were a reference to Anakin, that would mean she knows more about what happened to Anakin that we realize. Not sure if she would have learned through Fulcrum, Kanan, or somewhere else.

It was a filler episode, setting up to the grand season finale, what is ok to me. It was a good episode, after all.

He was at the gym, dude.

I agree on almost every point in the review, with the one exception that I don't know what I think about Kanan dying this season. I agree with your points, but not sure his story is done - but then again I thought the same about Qui-gon. I could more likely see him stay captured well into next season, causing Ezra to be the interim leader during that time.

I have to say, I really hated to see Chopper murder the Imperial Droid. For some reason I have never liked the look of any other Astromechs beside R2-D2. It's funny, and I don't know why, but all others have always looked to me as a cheap knock-off of R2, or a bad re-painting. The Astromech in this episode was the first one I though could hold it's own visually - and now he's gone.

One thing I liked is that they showed the negative impacts for the Empire from Tarkin's destruction of the communications tower - but boy does the Empire not know how to create an Internet...

Chopper just knocked the other droid out of the ship, they showed him still functional on the surface of Lothal right after that.

Yeah, that's pretty weird. How the hell did the droid survived? And Chopper is a serial killer, he almost killed everyone at the Ghost at least one time.

I don't think chopper has an Astro jet or whatever, I think since he was in space there was no atmosphere or gravity or all the normal stuff that comes with being in atmosphere, In space once you get momentum it goes forever. So I took it just as choppers normal jet but In space its alot more efficient

I believe Kanan will be rescued in the season finale and the Ghost crew will be on the run.

As much as I'd like to say I searched my feelings and know this to be true...
Freddie Prinze Jr. has already commented about the dialogue he's been recording for Season 2 and how the show continues to improve. So he's not dead :) at least, not by the season finale.

That design is nothing new. That Astromech design was seen in Star Wars in more then one place. One of them was captured along with the other Rebels on the Tantive IV :)

Thrusters on the sides of his legs and torso probably broke his fall. R2 has them in the Prequels so this guy probably has them too.

Not to mention the 4 or 5 Stormtroopers he straight up murdered when they got spaced this episode. I love Chopper because of his homicidal tendencies!!!! He's the best. That's why they make restraining bolts, heh.

It will be interesting to see what has happened on Mustafar in the 10 years since it was last visited (in the novel Tarkin). At the time, no mention of a Jedi interrogation center or other prison complex was made, it appears that things change pretty quickly in that time frame.

I feel it was Vader's idea to have a Jedi interrogation/prison complex there.
