We all know that the blue guy Thrawn is returning to Star Wars. But this time, he's 100% canon.

So, what other characters, planets, events were brought to canon?

    I know a few:

    The Hundred-Year Darkness
    11-4D
    Rakata Prime

I think of canon like this: just because we haven't seen something turn up yet doesn't mean it's not canon. Apparently George Lucas was involved in some capacity in during the writing of various legends stories. Only Lucasfilm has access to all of Lucas' material such as TV shows, scripts, pads and notebooks. Chances are they're full of characters, events, and history already considered canon by Lucasfilm, but unbeknownst to the general public. This may include some legends characters :).

I'm not sure on the hundred year darkness ,as we don't know how much of Bane's backstory Lucas developed. We got introduced to George's character and the rule of two through The Phantom Menace novelisation, and then we got the start of his vision of Bane during The Clone Wars. How much was invented by the author, and how much was George's original vision?

The hundred-year darkness was mentioned in Star Wars #9.

It was mentioned in The Clone Wars, just not straight-up said.

    Just remembered this one:
Calling the currency of the galaxy "credits" came from the EU. If you remember from the OT, anytime money was talked about, it was simply a number (eg "17,000! These guys must really be desperate!" or the haggling at Jabba's palace over the bounty for Chewie) or a vague idea of monetary compensation (eg "He's worth a lot to me."). Calling money "credits" first made it's way into "Canon" in TPM, I believe. "Republic credits are no good out here."
A minor inclusion, but still shows the influence of the EU even back the 90s.

EDIT: Just did a little Wookiepedia research on this. Turns out that George originally coined the idea of calling currency units "credit units" though the term didn't make it into the movie.

Dash Rendar or at least his ship the Outrider was in the added Mos Eisley scene for ANH Special Edition. I'm not sure if you can call Shadows of the Empire canon but I loved the book and N64 game.

This has to be one of my favourite ships.

I didn't know about Rakata Prime being mentioned in the new canon. Glad to see it get some love, they threw a hell of a party for me there after I destroyed the Star Forge.

If I remember correctly, TFA Visual Dictionary had a star map and one of the planets on it was Rakata Prime. Kind of a random piece of trivia in an unexpected place, but it's still pretty neat.

Despite not delving too deep into it's Legends predecessor yet, I want to see more being done in the Old Republic era. It's an era that you can practically do anything with and have more Jedi and Sith action without contradicting the established canon timeline. You can also create completely new characters and bring back old ones. I think it's really just a matter of time now.

Yeah, I looked it up after I read the thread. Only a small mention and nothing to get too excited about but I liked the fact they at least gave it a nod.

We can assume the vast majority of Legends worlds have been ported over (and they've said as much) and are in the same locations. The details might differ though.

That's always been an Easter Egg I liked. Is there any way to be sure it's the Outrider and not just a random YT-2400, though?

I think it's assumed that this is the Outrider. It was never officially mentioned in the film however the Special addition ANH came out a year after Shadows of the Empire game.
