Mon Mothma

This generally (quoted text refers to the battle of Endor) agrees with what wookiepedia says. What´s interesting is, that the following text is new canon- in other words when Disney took over they changed the following passage from Mon Mothma's biography, some might wonder why...

she thought that diplomacy was dead and she trained as a starfighter pilot in order to fight against the Empire. She realized, however, that while she could have helped win a battle, she could contribute more as the leader of the Alliance.

...

Despite Mothma's concerns, which the princess understood, Organa felt it was her destiny to be part of the Battle of Endor and chose to accompany the Rebel forces to the Forest Moon.

Before the Alliance Fleet left for Endor, Mothma's ship departed so she could be taken to a safe Location.

Emperor Palpatine wasn't present at any of the battles either...

You don't put the leader on the front lines. And there was never a real reason for her to be mentioned in the Rebel scenes we were shown.

 

We already got a young Tarkin in ROTS.

He was played by the Australian actor Wayne Pygram.

 

That's some crazy prosthetics .

 

That's instantly who I thought of when I saw this scene in the Rogue One trailer Notice the guy standing behind the death star hologram on Deigo Luna's right (our left). same outfit and everything. Even has his arms crossed



It's cool Jimmy Smits' Bail Organa will be there too.

And I agree theborgv she sure is one hot momma Mothma.

 

Good eye I always thought he was the one beside Alistair Petrie/General Draven

 

The guy on the right in the Rogue One briefing is the guy on the right of the view screen from A New Hope.

Here is another image of Dodonna. Notice the Uniform difference.


Whoever they got to play the extra with the Black and white helmet on the left side of the screen in the Rogue One shot also looks JUST like the guy with the same helmet on the left side of the room in A New Hope as well.

 

As @RockyRoadHux mentioned before, in the new canon it is mentioned that she had a shuttle to keep her safe. It is like asking where she was during Rebels whenever Bail has appeared. From what we have learned from Moving Target, when Leia took over the Alderaan senatorial position from her father, Mon Mothma was still a Senator for Chandrila and was sort of like a mentor to the Princess. We don't know if she remained a Senator until the Senate was dissolved by Palpatine - I guess we will learn more about it in Rogue One. Then she was actively involved in the Rebellion - from what we have seen in the comics, so far she has had two appearance: one in the Showdown in the Smugglers' Moon arc, where the Rebellion receives the distress call from Artoo about Luke being abducted by Grakkus the Hutt in Nar Shaddaa and she acknowledges they do not have enough resources to send a rescuing mission, but Chewie steps up and takes the Falcon with Threepio; and the most recent one in The Last Flight of the Harbinger where she, Dodonna and Ackbar are discussing with Luke and Leia the mission they need to develop to aid Tureen VII, which is under Imperial blockade.

 

Indeed! And it's not the only time as he had already made an impression as Farscape's Scorpius.

 

Wait... so which one is Dodonna? The one across from Mothma, or the one in the dark?!

 

The one in the dark behind the Death Star Hologram.

 

I'm still confused... in the words of Viceroy Gunray....

 

Apparently the script says the one giving the briefing is Dodonna. Maybe its just another continuity error that he has two different outfits on? at any rate rogue one seems to have put 'both' characters in.

He's not even called by the name Dodonna in the movie is he?

 

....are people in Star Wars not allowed to change clothes? I assumed it was one character.

 

It seems like an odd time to change clothes yes. the people that made rogue one seemed to interpret it as two different characters as well since they have them both standing in the briefing. Maybe thats why they gave their Dodonna longer hair?

then again Luke changed out of his robe into a flight suit at the same time so maybe Dodonna felt it was time to take off the relaxed scientific lab coat and don his military jacket to meet oblivion dressed his best in case the assault failed

 

I feel like such a bad fan. My whole life, I thought the guy who was talking about the Death Star plans was Dodonna.

 

It's ok, I can't wait to see General Draven's full briefing, Dodonna's was memorable.

 

Okay, according to the script, it is Dodonna who does the briefing, and it is also Dodonna in the war room with Leia.

Maybe they were different actors, but it looks like they were supposed to be the same character (like with Wedge).

Why is Rogue One pretending they are different?

Pablo just confirmed the two ANH Dodonna's are in fact both the same actor and character.
