Who can say? There's no data to support it other than Amazon PR.
Not sure what you mean by that. I only brought Shogun up because people have been talking about it for a couple of months.

I'm not the only person questioning this model. And just because they're doing it doesn't mean they know what they're doing. I look at the IMDb trend to see what shows people are looking for... Shogun has been in the top five for 3 months. Mr. & Mrs Smith came out in February and it's currently ranked 187th. Mr. & Mrs. Smith is really good, but they dumped it and people either started watching it or they've moved on. Fallout is a big enough IP that I don't think it matters, but I still don't get it.

And you don't have to. You just need to accept that it works. Both models have their ups and downs and it's good that streaming platforms decide to use that model which fits a certain show.

While this discussion is interesting I think we're kinda derailing this thread.

It's funny to see that songs from the 40s/50s/60s are becoming more popular again, only because of Fallout. It really shows that movies and shows are 50% sound.

I always liked the use of old music in the games. This upbeat music is a nice contrast to the horrors of the wasteland. I'm glad they sticked to that for the show.

If it worked everyone would be doing it. Disney doesn't do it. Paramount doesn't do it. Amazon doesn't always do it. Netflix has stopped doing it for certain shows. So I don't have to accept it. haha anyway... agree we're derailed.
The feel of Fallout is uniquely sealed by the music. I've been playing Fallout 76 again and the music is so great.

I was referring to the fact that both concepts work. And btw Disney is doing it. For example for the upcoming "Tales of the Empire". And then they like to do these "2-3 episodes premieres". Which is pretty much half of a show these days. :p okay, now I shut my mouth on this topic.

I've never played 76. For me Fallout is a singleplayer experience. Having only human players and no NCPs kinda sounds bland to me. But yeah, the music used for 76 is definitely great!

Way better than I expected! Got some issues and can't stand Maximus and is a companion I'd abandon or blow his head off but I'll give his another chance next season as he did improve/become more understanding by the end but still hate him and am annoyed by the love interest stuff between him and Lucy. Monty could have been an interesting character and turn good by the end but he attacks Lucky and gets killed off in one episode because..Raider

Overall, I really enjoyed this and am happy as a huge fan of the games! Really works as it's own thing while set in the game's universe. I like most characters, good story and the action/violence is awesome and on point with the games. Impressed with the make up/prosthetics, outfits, power armors and special effects.

Made me go back to Fallout 4 and Falloit 76 while eventually going back to 3 and New Vegas. Bring on S2 and yes more Goggins as Ghoul plz!

There are many npcs now. Players all over the maps but there plenty of npcs and single player quests. I still prefer the other main games but 76 had improved so much since launch

It's a pretty good mix right now. I suspect whenever Fallout 5 comes it'll be an improved version of 76 with a mix of both.

That's good to hear! I'm actually about to start my replay of New Vegas. It's not only the best Fallout game but also one of the best RPGs ever. Maybe after I finished my play through, I'm finally trying 76.

Bethesda has still a focus on singleplayer games, but there will be a separate multiplayer mode for sure. But Fallout 5 won't come out for the next 5 years. Haha!

    We finished it.
The show kept my wife interested the whole time so much so that she was bothering the rest of us about finishing it, which has never happened. Cooper and Lucy made the show. I find it interesting how they are constantly highlighting Maximus's weakness and now he is the avatar for the Brotherhood. Are they trying to make him despised??
My son was very excited by the appearance of New Vegas which he claims is the "Best one of the series".

Maybe I'm still in the honeymoon phase for the show but man, that was a really entertaining series. I thought the longer runtimes really did it for me.

I love how the secretary is Betty, though I do still keep waiting for her to put on some sunglasses and ask for some cocaine.

I thought the same thing. And like your wife, Mrs Derringer was a big fan too despite the violence.

Just like Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni with The Mandalorian, Fallout's showrunners, Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner deserve a ton of credit. Given the subject matter, this could easily have come off as a fun TV series with lots of action and little character development (in other words, like most action-adventure-ish TV shows.) But they infused the series with heart and the upmost respect for their source material.

The show never took itself too seriously, but on the other hand, the showrunners took their source material VERY seriously. They put together high-level production values, with great writing and directing and infused it with moments of drama, comedy and incredible film making. An example of that was the dramatic scene where the Vault door rolls open and Lucy walks out into the sun for the first time (she thinks).

This is the first show since Mando Season 2 that I plan to rewatch (probably again and again.)

I'm really happy that we are finally getting good game adaptations. @RockyRoadHux isn't a gamer, but she liked the shows of 'The Last Of Us' and 'Fallout'. Sharing something you like with a loved one is always nice.

I highly recommend watching some Behind-The-Scenes and Making-Of Clips of this show. It's so cool to see how much effort went into Fallout. So many practical effects, so many sets, and so many shootings on location. And obiously there were some few Volume shots as well. Btw Volume- the Fallout show's use of it is really good. I only noticed it once. The last time the Volume was that well integrated has to be 'The Batman'.

I was a huge fan of The Last of Us too and I'm not a gamer. Same goes with Fallout.

After becoming intrigued with the Fallout TV show, I've read a bit about the various Fallout games. I'm no big expert of the world of Fallout but it seems to me that the showrunners could develop the series in a way that could eventually lead to a blockbuster, all-out war conclusion (ala Game of Thrones.)

It will be interesting where they take the show. The story of the games doesn't really end, because every Fallout tells it's own contained tale. There isn't just one storyline, only shared characteristics.

I doubt the show will end with a "final battle" as conclusion, because that goes against the message of Fallout. The message of the games are pretty much, that humanity's greed is infinite and it will always lead to the downfall of society, in one way or the other. But this isn't the end. Life always goes on. The world might look different, but the world doesn't end. Just our vision of it does, and then it gets reborn in something new, over and over again. War never changes... People do. It's actually quite hopeful.

So the ending will be a more personal one. Lucy and Cooper can take revenge, while Maximus can redeem the Brotherhood of Steel. This may happen in Season 2 or it will be dragged out to Season 3. After that you just can continue this story with new characters and locations.

It's just like The Last of Us. The story isn't about a cure, it's about the people living in this world and making a difference.

As a newbie to Fallout, my speculation was based solely on Season 1 of the TV series.

I got the idea from the Vault-Tech pre-Nuclear War board room they showed us. All the Vault-Tech executives had their own collection of vaults and their own way of running them. You mentioned humanity's greed. I thought the board room was oozing with greed, both collectively (hey, let's start the war ourselves) and individually.

But I bow to any of you with a strong understanding of the games as well as the series.
