7 Topics Star Wars Fan Love to Debate

1. Han & Greedo - Han is the only one that shot. It was his wily way in which he'd managed to survive that far. Didn't make him a bad guy, just someone who liked breathing.

2. Midi-chlorians - Willfully ignored, either way you go.

3. Ewoks - I'd figure they'd be omnivores, like real bears. But when presented with such a good catch (remember they had some dead deer thing there as bait anyways), why waste good meat?

4. Stormtroopers’ combat skills - I like the line about him actually remembering the old clone troopers. Simply put, had they portrayed the stormtroopers more realistically, the main characters would all have been dead before ANH finished. Or one could also argue that the troops we saw were often in "safe" areas (the Death Star, forest moon of Endor that was protected by a fleet, etc.) and thus of lesser quality, while the more skilled and better trained troops were sent to other areas to fight, and thus we hardly saw them. And hey, the snowtrooopers did do a good job on Hoth.

5. Film viewing order - Always OT then PT (IV-V-VI-I-II-III ) when dealing with newcomers. No debate on it.

6. The prequel trilogy - It has its ups and downs, good parts and bad parts. I generally enjoy it by ignoring or skipping over some parts while reveling in the rest. Plus they have some awesome armors and ships, so that makes it easier to cope as well.

7. Parsecs - Never thought about it. Ignorance is bliss.

Actually I find it odd that they included the Special Edition-induced "Han shot first" issue, but not those brought about by the blu-ray release. As in, Boba's sudden voice change and young Force ghost Ani.

 

Fair point. "Universally hated" isn't the same as "lovingly debated" I suppose.

 

Well we know it ended with Greedo getting fried (Jabba's words off course) I have been reading in other websites about how Han was able to shoot Greedo from under the cantina table.

 

1. Han & Greedo- its pretty much uncontested that Han shot first...its the fans Vs. Lucas. i wouldn't call it a debate really

2. Midi-chlorians-Love it or hate it, disney decided to play along with George on this one... the problem with the midichlorians is that it demystifies the force. no longer is it the simple explication Obi-Wan gives in ANH, but instead a parasite that controls matter as we control it?

3. Ewoks-Cut n' cuddly man eaters! these little monsters are crafty... they may be outgunned, outnumbered, out-sized...but they are crafty! when you look at one Ewok as an individual it would seem unlikely that they could overpower the empire with all their weaponry. The key to success is that they work as a team all attacking simultaneously catching the troopers off guard.

4. Stormtroopers’ combat skills-they are cloned after one of the baddest dudes in the empire...I blame the empire for not being hard enough on the new recruits during training phase. was Boba really that exceptional in that hes the only successful clone? maybe that's why he became a bounty hunter. play to your skills i guess.

5. Film viewing order-my prefered viewing order is I-IV-II-V-III-VI. but when introducing a friend to star wars for the first time, OT always comes first.

6. The prequel trilogy- its still star wars anyway you slice it. i think all the parts are there but needs to be re cut to make a more cohesive story with the OT

7. Parsecs-there is the scientific explanation and then we have Georges explanation... this is one of those hot button topics that really makes no difference on the story.

Another big debate I remember back in the day was 'Whether Palpatine Threw the fight against Mace?" I didn't get much involved in the debate at TFN, but I remember a bunch of members were exiled from the message board because of it.

 

If I were to say 7 topics it would be these:

1-Darth Plagueis creating Anakin

2-Boba Fett surviving the Sarlacc

3-Special Edition/Blue Ray changes to the OT

4-OT vs PT

5-Lucas making SW movies vs Disney making SW movies

6-How Luke mastered the Force vs How Rey mastered the Force in such an incredible and easy way

7-Jar Jar Binks (All things regarding him. His stupidity, was Lucas on drugs when he came up with him, the dorky Jar Jar Sith Lord theory ect.)

 

1. Han & Greedo- Not every fan cares even Harrison, I believe he did this because, he didn't want people to think Han was a merciless killer. The other reason, might be because of the Jedi philosophy.

2. Midi-chlorians- I have no idea where you got this idea, that the force was only mystical? It does not demystify anything, the idea of it was there in the 70's, It was mentioned because the era in the OT, was uneducated hence Han's lack of knowledge, regarding Jedi and the force.
