After nearly seven years, I'm finally getting back into the Imperial Assault dungeon crawler, one of my favorite all time games! I did some narrative punch ups to make their story a little more cohesive, but otherwise the main story of the campaign will remain mostly intact, and I'm changing no rules.

This group is all new players. We have:

    1. The Rodian gunslinger Vinto Hreeda

    2. Droid expert Jerrod Kelvin, and his companion droid J4x-7 "Jax"

    3. The wookiee brawler Gaarkhan

    4. And the "gun-foo" John Wick-esque Verena Talos
    [IMG]

On the Rebels first mission, in the wake of the victory at Yavin and an impending Imperial invasion,
the team responded to a mysterious signal being broadcast from a station in the jungle. They fought off stormtroopers in the jungle and secured the exterior- however, upon opening the building's door, found themselves at the business end of an E-Web turret. Blasting their way into the building, they encountered many more Imperial reinforcements. Luckily, Verena managed to grab a thermal detonator from an Imperial crate and threw it into a group of enemies, dealing maximum damage and one-shotting two full stormtrooper squads, two Imperial officers, and the terminal broadcasting the communication signal. Big win for the Rebels!

But their celebrations were short lived. Their next mission took them to the gas giant Cloud City,
where a local administrator wanted help dealing with an ISB base that had infested itself in the city's lower bowels. The Rebels also needed to recover a data pad dropped by another rebel agent.

The administrator, a hooded man trying to conceal his identity from the Empire, introduced himself as Lando Calrissian. He led them into the ISB base, where the Rebels quickly came under fire by rogue Wing Guards under the command of the ISB officer Agent Blase. Blase was quickly dispatched, but Lando too was wounded and withdrew from the combat. The group continued through the base, but took a bit longer than they should have in dispatching the incoming Death Trooper reinforcements.

They heard him before they saw him.

As the rebels grabbed the datapad and struggled to open a door to their exit, the dark lord of the Sith came striding into the room. He positioned himself between the Rebels and their exit. They managed to dash past him, but took grievous wounds in the process. It wasn't long before each of them was wounded, and in a desperate bid to escape, Gaarkhan tossed the datapad. The heroes took advantage of the momentary distraction and ran, Vader recovering his prize.

Jax did manage to decode a bit of the data pad before its loss, though- it seems that a rising Imperial star named General Weiss is working on something big. Their next mission will take them to the jungles of Dxun so they can investigate his facility.

So, this is the tabletop version of IA, right? And you're running the Base Game campaign with the second mission being the Agent Blase Villain Pack scenario?

The team looks quite strong: Gaarkhan can be an absolute monster, and Vinto is very strong, IIRC. I can't quite remember the Verena character, but she had some interesting use-the-enemy-to-attack ability? Jarrod I can't remember, other than that droid companion figures are always fun :)

Oh man, I miss player Imperial Assault <3

Yep, correct on all accounts! (except the Blase Villain Pack scenario, this mission was actually included in The Bespin Gambit's main campaign book).

Verena was part of the Return to Hoth box, and Jerrod came with Heart of the Empire.

Me too. It's been way too long since I've played. I'll try to get some pics of the next session, and hopefully they play a little nicer with this platform this time.

Sadly we had to cancel last week's game... but that just meant we got to play today instead!

Today's mission was the second campaign story mission, A New Threat.

Having discovered that a new up and coming general in the Imperial Army named Weiss was apparently working on some mysterious new project, our heroes managed to find his base on the planet Dxun. There, they found a small facility in the jungle, a few modest buildings lightly guarded by only a few droids (though the Rebels also had to contend with some of the local fauna, a nasty pair of nexu).

Three separate buildings, each housing a terminal that could contain vital information on Weiss. The Rebels decided that instead of fully splitting up to visit all three buildings at once, they'd instead go in two pairs, then hit the last one together. They dispatched the two nexu and the probe droids, though unfortunately a pair of sentry droids and HK Assassin droids showed up shortly later. As Verena and Jerrod fought off these new sets of droids near the north outpost, Gaarkhan and Vinto arrived at the second outpost to the east. There, they successfully decoded the terminal's signal, revealing that Weiss was trying to hire the bounty hunter Dengar to track the party.

Unfortunately, shortly after this Weiss himself burst into the clearing, sealed inside his enormous modified AT-ST. Our heroes forces a retreat and lived to fight another day.

What little data they uncovered seems to imply that Weiss is up to something big... but unfortunately, because they didn't manage to get to the other two terminals, they don't know much more than that.

For now, they are now headed to try and prevent Dengar from working with Weiss.
