I haven't been able to find an answer on this, and wondered if anyone on here may know!

Fantasy Flight Games just released a new dungeon crawler board game based on the Star Wars universe. The base game will include two storied missions set after the Battle of Yavin but before Empire Strikes Back.

My copy just shipped but before I dive into, I was wondering if any one knows if the stories in this are considered canon under the new story group?

I'm interested in this as well. I got my copy for Christmas, and the story seems really awesome dealing with the events on Yavin 4 after the destruction of the first death star.

I'm seriously considering this game as well. The miniature sculpts look really good-

It's an amazing game. I could upload pictures of the Painted Jedi Hero, Imperial Guards and Darth Vader if people are interested.

Also, due to the variable outcome of the campaign, and the fact that Luke and Han take part in the campaign probably means that the story is not what one would call 'Canon'.

Also, FFG likes using a lot of Legends stuff for their X-Wing game, and it's bound to come up as this game expands.

So no. While I think this is THE Star Wars Boardgame on the market right now (though arguments for X-Wing and the upcoming Armada could be made).
It's 'story mode' Campaign is not canon.

Heck yeah, if you have the time to upload them I'd love to see some pics of the miniatures painted.

There's a great little game shop on the mainland, and I'll be buying the core game and whatever expansions may be available next trip in.

I noticed that the AT-ST looks somewhat different, and I read that it comes with optional add-on armor and weapons. Too cool-gotta have it!

I tried uploading the photos, but they are too big for the server to load up.
I'll give you guys some links to my BoardGameGeek profile's gallery if you want to see them.

The AT-ST that comes with the game is the standard one, it has a cabin that turns and if you put in the gun in the front that can go up and down. Some assembly is required though. But apart from that all is good, and I'm really happy with all the sculpts.

The AT-ST you might have heard from is from one of the expansion packs. General Weiss is a unit with a upgraded AT-ST, bigger guns.

I played the Tutorial for this last week, and planning to start a campaign group in February; it is really great tactical action. For the tutorial, the Imperial forces were a little spongy and died really quick, but I imagine this will change on real campaign missions with large deployment groups. I do have a questions for others that have played, is there any set activation order? I know a Rebel player generally activates first, but do subsequent activation of both Imperial deployment groups and Rebel heroes go off speed or is it just up to the players?

I picked up my copy of the game yesterday, and so far I am impressed. This is a quality production, and well worth the price.

The first thing I noticed is the size and weight of the box. The box is really deep, and quite heavy. There's a whole lot of stuff in there! The components are really substantial and nicely done. The terrain tiles that fit together like big jigsaw puzzle pieces are especially nice, and numerous. The possible combinations/scenarios are many.

The miniatures are well sculpted and very detailed. I did discover a minor problem. Two of the three Imperial Probe Droids were broken off of their stands, and one had a leg that was broken off completely but in the bag. However, the type of plastic they are made of responds very well to CA glue, and I had no problem repairing both droids, and they now look good as new, like they were never broken. Since they are rather delicate, I'd recommend storing the three droids somewhere other than the zip-lock bag with all the other miniatures to avoid any breakage in the future.

My copy of the game came with the bonus Darth Vader and Luke expansions. Cool! I was hoping to also purchase a few of the separate expansions, but my game shop had not received any yet. The owner mentioned they are on the way and should be in stock within a week.

The next step is to punch all the tiles and tokens from their boards and learn how to play. I'll let you all know how it goes.

I've been putting together some solutions for storage of the numerous components of Imperial Assault, starting with the rather delicate Imperial Probe Droids.

I found a storage box at True Value Hardware for $3.99 that works well. It's a Plano Model 3449. I picked up some self adhesive foam weatherstripping and I cut it into 6 squares to make a cushioned slot for each of the three droids. They are now held securely, with no more broken arms/legs.

There is also room for your dice, clear stands and some tokens. The storage box fits in the center slot of the game box perfectly. Overall cost was less than $5, and it took about 10 minutes to assemble. Inexpensive, and easy.

    Here are some pics-

@RBanks, I too got a big arts/craft storage box to store my all components. Its clear plastic so the rules on top make a nice image for box. I am not as careful with my miniatures as you are (they are still in a plastic bag). However, before I kick off a campaign next week, I'm planning to get out the components for the first mission so its easy to set up.
