I think it’s normal for the third act of a film to be the best. But I actually think the first act of ROTJ works really well too. Luke’s failure in TESB is because of his impatience. But when fighting Jabba, he resists fighting and offers repeatedly to make a deal instead. Admittedly, some of his offers were also part of his attack plan, but he did legitimately offer to make a deal with Jabba. This is why Luke can truthfully say to Yoda, “I’ve learned so much since then,” and his newfound patience and resistance to fighting is also showcased brilliantly in the third act.

But OK, yeah, the second act is… OK. I enjoy it, but they really went too far in making the Ewoks primitive and cutesy. Maybe it could have been a primitive human civilization that still acts seriously and with dignity. Ewoks aren’t a disaster, but they really didn’t need to be teddy bears.

If I could only pick one Star Wars movie, it would be Return of the Jedi.

Same here. And almost purely for the last two thirds. Movie doesn't really start until Luke surrenders on Endor. (Apologies. I know I've posted that here already)

While the Luke-Vader-Emperor wrap up was very compelling, what distinguished ROTJ in my mind were the deviations that Gary Kurtz (GL's executive producer for the first two films) said were made to the film script from the one Lucas had originally planned.

With ROTJ, George turned Star Wars into a franchise

    Pop quiz, hotshots.

How many minutes into the movie is it before Han is unfrozen, we see Leia's face, and the two are reunited? Without checking. What would be your guess? (Put it in spoilers if you know the answer, please)

Someone on Quora recently pointed out something that put them in a VERY different light for me.

When they first captured our heroes, Han and Luke were tied like game to poles and Han was about to be roasted alive before Leia and Threepio saved the day. Later at the end of the film, we see them using stormtrooper helmets as drums - what happened to the stormtroopers?

The Ewoks obviously liked human flesh. Leia only escaped this fate because she befriended one of them. Not so much 'teddy' and a lot more 'bear', methinks.

I'm guessing the guy on Quora read one of the tons of stories posted over the years about it. Since Han was to be the main course at a feast in Threepio's honor, could be they were just cooking it for him. Who knows, maybe in their religion the golden god was going to come down and eat up all the humans and get them off their moon so that's what they thought he ate. I'm guessing human meat wasn't a staple of their diet as it was new to Endor with the coming of the Empire and not easy prey. And they didn't consider cooking Leia after all. As for the Stormtrooper armor they could have just looted what was of use and left the bodies to the jungle predators. Looting dead soldiers for "souvenirs" or useful items is probably as old as war itself. Lots of Allied soldiers went home with Lugers and German helmets but probably didn't eat the Nazis. Whatever the case though I'm guessing it probably wasn't George or Richard's intention. The scene where the Ewoks are going to cook Han is mostly played for laughs and feels like a throwback to old-timey adventure movies and serials (and some cartoons) with the hero being thrown in the pot of stew and they probably weren't thinking too much beyond that point. Then again if they did eat humans I wouldn't look at them any differently than any carnivore. Not to mention their experience with humans up to that point had been the worst kind.
