SPECULATION A "new" Bounty Hunter in TFA? Maybe IG-88?

Maybe a new version of IG-88 rather than the old Tin-Can itself?
I'm up for a whole new character. As long as I get a Boba cameo, I'll be happy.

Before Isaac was confirmed to be an X-wing pilot, I thought he was a bounty hunter hired to find Luke. Maybe this "new" bounty hunter can take that role if the "Luke on the run" rumors are true.

Joking aside, I wouldn't mind seeing a new bounty hunter in the series. Those characters are good because they're not necessarily evil, they just do bad things for money. I always enjoyed the new ones added by the series, like Cad Bane and Aurra Sing. Though I think I'd prefer a non-droid bounty hunter.

IG-88 did himself have a interesting short story, which I don't think was ever canon even back in the days of the EU. In it, he's actually four (I think) different units working for a common goal, using the bounty hunting jobs as some sort of public diversion.

 

Perhaps our bounty hunter is BB-8 !

I am pretty sure I killed IG88.

I was the mocap actor for Dash Rendar. Good ole N64.

 

While I like the visual concept of IG-88, it's too impratical and clunky to be a all round bounty hunter worther of Fett. With that head and limited leg and torso movement, he appears to lack speed, agility and proportions to blend in surroundings.

If anything, put him in the background, but for a lead Bounty, bring in someone new to match Fett's legacy.

(Yes, I know in the books IG-88 is a daunting foe, but the books never had to tackle it's functionality visually.)

 

CGI I think would change the nature of IG88. All sorts of extra arms and weapons could pop out and he could go all Grevious.

 

We need another Fett.

I can't comment on IG-88 as I'm not familiar with him but I think it would be great if TFA has a new bounty hunter. I don't think there will ever be one to match Boba Fett but I definitely think we could see a cool new bounty hunter.

 

Well if there is a reason for a bounty hunter it is to find Luke. So 'd say there will be a few.

 

we could have two bounty hunters (HEAR ME OUT) one trying to find luke for the republic rebels and one working for the empire trying to kill luke. Actually maybe kylo ren is a bounty hunter?

I wanna see Cad Bane again. The guy was so good as a bounty hunter in TCW. And what about a pair up with Boba Fett? Here's the twist- just like the clone troopers were genetically altered to grow faster, maybe Boba found a way to keep him as young physically as possible each growing year, so he would remain the best bounty hunter for decades?!

 

I think having that droid bounty hunter would be awesome because it's been about 30 years since we last saw ig 88. The stormtroopers got an upgrade so why wouldn't ig 88 get one. He is a bounty hunter so getting all those credits and stealing stuff... I bet he would look like this wicked assassin kill machine. I would definitely love to see this, but you never know...boba may have survived...wait... What if boba had a son?? We don't know but it could be a possibility? Can't believe it popped into my head. What do u guys think?

My profile is dedicated to IG-88 and his appearance in Shadows Of The Empire. It's nice to know there are others out there that enjoyed those golden days on the N64.

Ever since I was a kid I have been a fan of IG-88 even though he appears once on ESB. He just looks cool period. I was almost as impressed by the magna guards in ROTS and for me one of the coolest things in the movie. I was pleased to find out they too were IG series droids (IG-100 to be precise).

It would be awesome to see an IG series assassin droid in TFA or maybe the spinoffs.
