Ahsoka Announces August 23 Release Date With New Spot

    It's official. Ahsoka will debut on Disney Plus on August 23. With the announcement comes the first TV spot with loads of new footage, including a look at Sabine with Ezra's lightsaber.

    This announcement comes off the heels of Empire Magazine's latest issue featuring the series. The publication has given insight into the title character and how she's the bridge into 'what's really possible', Sabine's driving force, and new information on the late Ray Stevenson's Baylan Skoll. Also on the villainous side of things is a new Inquisitor, which Empire provided another look at.



    The July issue of Empire becomes available tomorrow so expect more coverage here on Star Wars News Net in the days to come. For now, check out some official photos (also featured in Empire) from the series below:

    The countdown is officially on for the long-awaited Star Wars: Ahsoka. In just over two months, the eight-episode first season debuts on August 23 exclusively on Disney Plus. And if Rosario Dawson gets her way about a potential season 2, this won't be the last we see of her on the silver screen.

    Man, I have high hopes for this one. I know not everyone loves everything, but I think it's wise of LFL to figure out their formula before jumping straight into this story. They've proved themselves with Mando, regardless of one's opinion on Season 3 (which honestly, was pretty good in my opinion). They did something really unique to Star Wars with Andor. Even Kenobi was pretty damn good, for the most part.

    Now let's see what they can really do.

    One could make an argument that Ahsoka Tano is the most popular character in the entire franchise. I remember how downright emotional CW and Rebels fans got when they finally saw her in live action. And what a stunning debut it turned out to be!!! Many fans still regard that episode of The Mandalorian as The Best in the series and one of the best in the history of SW.

    So, imagining Ahsoka starring in her own live-action series has left many fans hyperventilating in anticipation. :)

    IMHO, we really need some of that star wars that kicks us in the butt with overflowing awesomeness. No mediocrity! I want this show to be overwhelming. I miss being overwhelmed by star wars.

    I will always have a special place in my heart for Anakin's padawan. Without her character, I doubt my daughter and I would have bonded so strongly over Star Wars. Her character, IMHO, brought thousands of new young fans into Star Wars and I thank her creator for it.

    That being said, no character will ever be as popular as Anakin/Vader(well ok maybe some day but not while I draw breath!) He is, to this day, still regarded as the best villain ever in any poll he is included in.
