With a new Star Wars show coming, it's almost tradition now that we will have the latest, cutest creature in the galaxy on our screens. After Grogu, we had Lola in Obi-Wan Kenobi, and to a certain extent, B2-EMO in Andor. Now, Ahsoka is going to feature a live-action Loth-cat, as we saw in the trailer, and Empire Magazine is revealing that the creature will be yet another animatronic creation from the Legacy team, much like its cute predecessors.

Empire also had the chance to speak to some of the cast about interacting with the Loth-cat in the series, with Mary Elizabeth Winstead saying “It was real, it was there!” or Rosario Dawson adding “It would snarl and look cute. Really, the detail was next-level.” But the character that interacted with the Loth-cat the most is Sabine Wren, who is played in the series by Natasha Liu Bordizzo. The actress had this to say about the little guy:

Loth-cats were first introduced in Star Wars: Rebels and had a cameo CG appearance in Chapter 13 of The Mandalorian. In the Ahsoka trailer, we saw this little creature with Sabine in her headquarters, and it seems like it will be a key player in the group that goes to rescue Ezra. How will Chopper react to it?

Ahsoka is currently targeting an August release date on Disney Plus, though Lucasfilm hasn't committed to a specific date yet. Dave Filoni wrote all eight episodes, and will direct several of them as well, along with Peter Ramsey (Into the Spider-Verse and The Mandalorian season 3), Steph Green (The Book of Boba Fett), Rick Famuyiwa (The Mandalorian), Jennifer Getzinger (Mad Men), and Geeta Patel (House of the Dragon episode 8).
