Ahsoka End Credits Song Available on Spotify; First Wave of Critic Reviews are Strong Though Audiences Seem to Enjoy it More

The Ahsoka series had its two-episode premiere on Tuesday night, and one of the most captivating aspects of it was the music. Kevin Kiner jumped to live-action Star Wars after working for years on several animation projects, from The Clone Wars and Rebels to Tales of the Jedi. Although it's still too early to release the full album for the score, or even half of it, that didn't prevent Lucasfilm from releasing the song that plays over the end credits on Spotify as well as other music streaming services, including Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, and more.



This is not exactly a new move by the studio. The Book of Boba Fett theme song was also released on Spotify the day the series premiered, and John Williams' theme for Obi-Wan Kenobi followed the same path. Something that also jumped out to viewers from the music of the first episode was the inclusion of a more modern song, which was performed by Illuminati Hotties' Sarah Tudzin. Titled 'Igyah Kah', the song has not made its way online yet. In fact, we expect it to be part of the first volume of the Ahsoka soundtrack which, judging by what the last two seasons of The Mandalorian did, will likely comprise the first four episodes and be released after Part Four airs on Disney Plus. In the meantime, the end credits song will have to suffice:







So far, the reaction to Ahsoka has been positive. A poll that we ran on our own social media (a bit of a biased audience, for sure) showed that 71.5% of 883 users who voted loved the first two episodes, while 14% hadn't seen them yet. 13% said they could have been better, while 1.5% didn't enjoy them. But that reaction has been consistent on Rotten Tomatoes as well.



As of the posting of this article, 108 reviews have been submitted to Rotten Tomatoes, with 88% of them giving the series a thumbs up (92 positive reviews vs. 16 negative ones). The average score, however, is a bit lower than what one would think from that rating: 7.25/10. (Notice that for a review to be considered 'fresh' it must give the show/movie a 6/10 or higher.) The picture is not as positive when we restrict it to only 'Top Critics', i.e., TV critics who not only do this for a living, but have shown a consistent output of criticism over the past number of years and are considered the elite of the Rotten Tomatoes group. For now, 22 top critics have submitted their opinions, with 73% of them giving it a thumbs up (16 vs. 6) and an average score of 6.10/10. As far as audiences go, 84% of 1,000+ users give the show their stamp of approval, with the average score being 4.3/5.







If we compare this to, say, The Mandalorian, we find the following. 93% of 451 critics gave season 2 a thumbs up, with the average score being 8.5/10; for top critics, these numbers are 80% positive out of 5 critics, with a score of 9/10. The audience score was 91% from 2,500 ratings (rating: 4.4/5). For season 3, the critic score was 85% positive from 239 reviews and a rating of 7.55/10 -- for top critics, these numbers go down to 80% (15 reviews) and 7.2/10. The audience wasn't as optimistic, with only 51% of 2,500 users giving it a thumbs up; their average rating, 3.1/5. Bear in mind, of course, that both of these seasons have been completed, while Ahsoka still has only two episodes out.
