What do you think? All seven Drew Struzan posters, without the clutter of movie credits and titles. Can we get Disney to uphold the legacy of hand painted Star Wars posters or do you prefer the photo shopped soulless posters of today?

And a version with 'episode' titles at the bottom ...

TFA was a great picture but there is one thing that I dislike: the poster.
Please come with something good, a beatiful painting for Ep. VIII, Disney.

Drew Struzan is genious and what he did with the six films is just amazing (together with John Williams, is the most consistent artist of the whole saga). That said, the teaser poster he did for VII looks not as good to me. The colors are great, as usual, but the composition and the drawing (specially for Han) are not as good as other works he has done. The man is retired and probably he did this more as a favor that anything else.

But let's go to the photoshoppy poster from VII: I don't like it at all. It's not only about the digital, cold vibe, but also about the fact that there is too many stuff on it. I understand Struzan is retired, but there are young artists that pretty much follow their trail, like the swedish guy who did the poster for Kungfury

I pretty much agree with everything you just said perrymoon. Perhaps not Struzan's finest work. But worlds better than the photoshopped atrocity that Disney tried to pawn off as a star wars poster. A hand painted poster conveys a soul to a movie, a level of gravity that these publicity shots cannot.
