Not a bash thread. Just my views.

Doesn't do it for me. Wanted to like to it. Tried liking it. But nope. Maybe it's too aimed add a younger market and I'm battling to get into it.

My biggest gripe is how the stormtroopers continously miss from two steps away. Yes, it's a kids show to sell toys, but a bit of realism in these details wouldn't hurt production? Like spread the fight scenes to justify the misses?

Also don't like how the rebels are now obviously wanted by the Emipre, but go from place to place with no disguise right in the enemies face. And the worlds feel very empty, little life.

Then there's the weak animation. When compared to the animation movement in Tron Legacy, it's almost like Pixar versus student work.

I hope this first season maintains popularity, so production will improve in a second season to bring me and myabe others back into it, but right now, it doesn't keep my attention.

Yeah, I'm totally with you on the stormies' ability to completely miss everything within a 30-meter radius, it is frustrating. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we should be dealing with mortally-wounded main characters episodes in, but at least some semblance of accuracy would be less patronising. Hell, even battledroids managed to hit something every now and again. But you've got to give the show some time to build up and establish the character personalities and dynamics. I'd say persist with it, not just for the sake of it being a source of canon Star Wars lore, but because it's being made by the same guys who made TCW, and if it ends up being anywhere near as good as that, you're definitely going to miss out. :)

Sorry that you don't like the show, to each their own, I say. As for me, I'm loving the show, really liking every moment of it so far. I see this show for what it is and that is a KIDS CARTOON SHOW .

Tron Uprising and Clone Wars (Including the 2003 2D) were objectively aimed for kids, and they weren't so... dumb down and limited in quality, and maintained high audiance of adults.

Also we all grew up watching mature films from Star Wars to Terminator, and loved them without them being produced in dumb down scripting.

I think you mean Tron Uprising. Tron Legacy was an actual live action movie.

He is. The cost of Tron: Legacy's CGI eclipses pretty much every CGI cartoon's budget.

Rebels has disappointed me, too. The characters don't develop, the Imperial officers are unbelievably and unnecessarily corrupt, the stormtroopers are utterly ineffective and therefore not frightening, and I still hear the Aladin soundtrack every time Ezra is on the screen.

But Pinky Fett's kinda hot, so I'll keep watching.

Yep I am with you OP. This was a craptacular waste of time. Storm troopers missing litterally from feet away? There is literally no reason for that to happen. They could have easily moved the troops a few meters more away and perhaps made them firing as running. The design and flow of the show just feels.... lazy and slapdash. Like it was hurried out the door by the B- team before it was ready. This is a sad departure from the last few seasons of the clone wars. It is a boring, muddled, and silly mess. They could have easily addressed many of the issues with this episode without much intervention or even really changing the "kid friendly" tone of the episode. Just because it is for kids doesn't mean it has to be stupid. I will watch until the Inquisitor makes his first appearances and if there isn't a marked increase in quality.... I am out. It concerns me that Disney released something of this quality as its first foray in to the Star Wars universe..... This does not bode well.....Kathleen Kennedy put her stamp of approval on this drizzling- crap pile. As a loyal star wars fan I feel angry that so many people are swallowing this tripe without complaining.

You summed up it beautifully Stillwatch and Pobody.

In the Clone Wars, the villians weren't clumsy or blindfolded. They calculated and terrified their targets.

In Rebels, it's almost like the heroes are fighting air instead of stormtroopers. Total zero challenge.

Then, Episode 2, the plot was dreadful. The Empire looking for weapons they once had, but no longer have the plans for them, like wow, are harddrives more limited than lightsabers there, and weapons which really didn't do anything special that ordinary heavy blasters would do, and that shallow rip-off of the cliche purple muscle character in the team, gets all emotional over those weapons, but not over the Empire who used them that he's fighting. Terrible script.

And the production feels lazy. There are 3D shows out there presently, and previously, light years ahead in animation of Rebels which is put together by the entertainment's holy bank of all producers, Disney!

I had hoped to like this show as well but I just wanted to add (-for the uninitiated) that the latest episode, 4, is cringe-tastic in so many ways that a less disciplined SW fan might have suicidal thoughts after watching :(. I too am waiting for the first action of the so-called Inquisitor. He could either save the show- or bury it.

I admit that my trust has been shaken :D. Disney is asking me to do something that's dishonest.... They want me to be enjoying this

    ;)

(I DO hope that the 10 yr and younger audience is getting a kick out of this show though.)

I can tell you that in yesterday's episode, a Stormtrooper actually shot Zeb (although it was only on his hand, that Stormtrooper had better aim than the others in his ranks).

Whelp... that was fast haha. Faith partially restored! The latest- er- next episode, "Rise of the Old Masters", did just the trick. I now give a damn about this crew, it's chemistry, their predicament, sense of purpose and.......Ezra's Jedi training and character development. If they don't stray to far off of the presentation path that this episode is on and leave out the excess goofiness and seeming lack of narrative direction, this could get real good.

    Inquisitor FTW

The latest episode 'Rise of the Old Masters' is a perfect example as too why you should give the series a chance.

The series will be filled with happy-go-lucky character development that has troppers missing and the empire being noobs, but there will also be amazingly deep episodes like this one.

That is the reason I have not watched the shows so far - they seem aimed at kiddies, and I am old enough to be the kiddies' grandma. ;) It is worse if they are aiming the show at this young demographic and then are placing big, important bits of information or potential movie spoilers into the episodes.

While I'm no longer excited about Rebels, I have managed to lower my expectations and can find some pleasure in it, mainly for the CG and sound designs rather than the characters and stories. It's okay, but coming off the back of the hugely ambitious, more experimental and lavish The Clone Wars, it's like being evicted from a palace and moving into an apartment: both keep us dry and warm, but only one fulfills it with style, luxury and room to expand.

My hope with this show is trying to do the opposite of Lucas did with prequels. Lucas tried to hook in kids with the feature films therefore dumbing down storytelling and characters. Hopefully, the idea now is to have the cartoon for the kids and the features for the adult/teens. Sort of what is being done with Marvel. For example The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes! , Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. and Avengers Assemble are Disney XD shows but the Marvel feature movies aren't made for ten year-olds.

Well, I can't speak for any of the other viewers across the world, but it looks like my kids have given up on Rebels after Out of Darkness (episode 6), so at 34 years of age, my kids (aged 8 and 6) off doing other things, I just sat and watched Empire Day (episode 7) on my own. I wanted to say, "hey, guys, it was great, and there's an amazing cliff-hanger ending," but honestly it wasn't all that much to write home about. I'm really worried that Rebels is going to be a sad shadow of TCW and isn't going to get any better than this. Yes, I suppose you could say that it's still only early days, but in fairness, it's already been six episodes - how many do Disney need to make it great? This is, after all, Dave Filoni and team responsible for this, who were completely above and beyond brilliant when it came to the prematurely terminated TCW series.

So it begs the question - what's changed? Are they under far greater creative restrictions because of how it all might affect TFA? Or is the giant opressive hand of Disney squeezing the life out of them? It just feels quite tired and suggests that, yes, the same guys who made TCW are still working on it, but actually, they all just need some time off to recuperate. I really want it to be amazing, I want to be blown away by it every week, gradually ramping up the intensity of excitement until December next year, but it's all still just so Luke-warm (shoddy pun alert).

C'mon, Mr Filoni - where's your fire gone? Did it fall victim to Order 66? No? Prove it. I challenge you.
