Folks, do you feel that ANDOR has influenced the way you think about R1, just as R1 influenced ANH?

When R1 came out I loved it, and still do, and for me at least it has enhanced ANH so much - thinking about the sacrifice made to get those plans.

ANDOR has now done the same for R1 for me. The supreme struggle, emotion, and courage during the breakout of Narkina 5 just sets up Andor and Melshi and the Rebels so much in R1. It enhances R1 and explains a lot of how the Rebels think and what Andor has been through to get to that point on Scarif.

We now have ANDOR-R1-ANH into a majestic "mega story", each building on the next.

Incredible work, thank you Tony Gilroy!

For me it all fits together perfectly and just as Rogue 1 made ANH more meaningful, actually seeing the struggle and loss that made it all possible, I think Andor is doing the same for Rogue 1.
What I find equally impressive is how they each can stand on their own as well. I think that historically we as a fandom have become used to worrying about inconsistency, but this really feels like all 24 episodes are going to be top notch.

I have no issues with continuity etc. I liked Rogue One but I think Andor is a far superior piece of work. Rogue One kind of has its cake and eats it a little. Andor is really what they said Rogue One was. However, I think that means Rogue One works quite well as a sort of intermediate style. A buffer between the HBO/BBC-like Andor and the fairy tale of A New Hope.

Funnily enough. I think Solo actually fulfilled that niche, stylistically speaking, more succesfully and more organically than Rogue One does. Which is a surprise considering the production history for that movie, and the fact that it is materially almost disconnected from the story of Andor/RO/ANH.

I love Solo. Sure, there were some eyeroll moments, but for me that's perfectly well and good. A little levity works in most SW. The difference is the independence of the pieces. Solo isn't tied in to any known events, but it is entirely tied in to known characters. I think that's why Solo gets all the criticism. As a standalone movie, it's not nearly as good as it is to the core fan base. Rogue can be watched and enjoyed with no previous knowledge of Star Wars.

I totally agree that Andor is an improvement on Rogue 1, which I think was an absolutely needed evolution of SW storytelling. It's almost as if TPTB were testing the waters for a "grownups" version and Andor is the result. I'm not saying everything going forward should be done this way, but I hope they see that there is absolutely an appetite for serious, mature drama in addition to the kitschy space wizard lightsabers and funny-talking aliens.
