Lucasfilm is set to release the soundtrack for the first four episodes of the Disney Plus Star Wars series Andor this Friday.

Nicholas Britell has thus far managed to bring some unique sounds to the Star Wars landscape with most of the first season having aired, with the music that plays when Cassian and Luthen's escape from Ferrix, set against a montage of past and present events, being a standout. In response to a fan praising this sequence, Britell explained that the soundtrack for the first four episodes of the series would be releasing later this week:

This pattern breaks slightly from Lucasfilm's usual format of releasing soundtracks for their series. Usually, original soundtracks are released right after the final episode in a batch arrives, such as The Mandalorian Season 2 Volume 1's soundtrack arriving closely after the launch of 'Chapter 12: The Siege', consisting of the first four episodes of that series. However, at the time that Andor Season 1 Volume 1 will arrive, the series has aired more than half its episodes, which seems a little strange as a break of traditional patterns.

Britell also confirmed that Andor will be releasing its remaining soundtracks in two additional volumes when an inquiring fan asked for elaboration:

Andor is set five years before the events of A New Hope, which chronologically means that it is concurrent with the events of Rebels but is otherwise unconnected to that series. The show revolves around the past of Cassian Andor, a future intelligence operative for the nascent Rebel Alliance, as he searches for his lost sister and struggles to find out what kind of person he really is in a galaxy with an uncertain future.

Andor Volume 1 will be available to buy on October 21, 2022. The series is currently streaming on Disney Plus, with its seventh episode out of twelve for the first season now available to watch. A second season, which will conclude the show's story and lead into the events of Rogue One, is in development.

Oh, it's rather good, isn't it? It never really made a conspicuous impression on me while watching the actual episodes. But that's often the mark of a good show.
