Oh did anyone else react the way I did to Luthen getting into character before setting down at Coruscant. I actually shouted at the TV (while watching by myself) "NO F---ING WAY!" It was the first genuine surprise in the show so far. And it was a delightful one.

I was afraid that with the backlash of Reva, that we would no longer have diversity in these projects which is insane. I was truly wrong. Episode 4 showed me that diversity can be utilized correctly with good actors. Great story, great direction, diversity won't be a sore thumb, just for the sake... I did notice an Asian officer in the first episode with no lines at all. That must be corrected also, but done in the right way going forward.

I never looked for diversity, I've been a fan since 1977. The internet backlash of Finn in TFA's first teaser trailer, released on November 28, 2014, as a stormtrooper, was an eye opener. With all sorts of alien species in Star Wars, I never thought diversity was an issue... now I look for it for that very reason.

I wasn't talking about ethnic diversity at all. And I think Moses was great as Reva. You will not see anything like Reva in Andor or need to see any of that kind of acting style, though. That's kind of one of the points of the show. You won't see any acting like McGregor's for that matter. It's not a question of "good" acting or "bad" acting.

Yep. I can't get out of my head the (really really) bad recreation in Obi Wan. Which leads to the next quote.

Absolutely. Backgrounds and lights in there were so great.
Any project has to use the volume properly.

I didn't scream XD but judging from trailers I really was expecting some kind of flashbacks, so that was a very welcomed surprise.
Like Ferrix in trailers. I thought it would be a battle with rebels and it was only Andor and Real (with some help yes).

Hardly worthy of comparison. That scene was a memory. And probably not even a literal memory but a symbolic one. Its purpose was to tell us we are in the Jedi Temple which we know is on Coruscant and this is Obi Wan still training Anakin.

    Form follows function.

And using it "properly" is an entirely different prospect for each different SW show never mind different films and shows in general. Determining that the volume wasn't used properly in OWK by watching The Batman is an absurd thing to claim to say the least.

This is kind of what I mean? We are consumers. We're not movie makers. The reason this debate is kind of dumb is because it's not based on the technology at all. It's based on people's opinions about the series itself. That's why it's predictable. I had a good feeling Andor would be well received (since it wasn't gonna be a legacy character thing), it didn't use the volume, so people will say it's because of the volume.
Yep, it's an involving technology. This kind of happened with CGI. No one complains about CGI in films they like, but it's been a pretty lazy form of online film criticism since the sequels.

The thing is I pretty much noticed all the Volume shots in Kenobi, while I didn't even notice one in The Batman. Yes, the later had much more money and thus more talented people to work with. So, the comparison isn't that fair, I agree.

I have dozens films, which I like or even love which feature bad effects or visuals. For example 'Matrix: Reloaded'. I like the movie, but the CG is just bad from time to time.

Well, is also absurd putting words that I didn't say but if you say so.
I only compared the 2 Coruscants of the 2 SW shows, and OW's was quite weak done as a background with the volume compared to Andor. Which takes me to The Batman that used the volume to create better backgrounds. Just this. Nothing absurd I see here.
I really don't think that they made on purpouse as a memory. But if you say so. Yours is a point of view, valid as any other. Could be seen like this, as a memory? Probably yes. But still seems lazy. Just my personal opinion.

I really do. I love to analize all aspects from films. It helps in my writing as a book writer and movie reviews in digital platforms (only in my mother language, in english would last one day XD)
I love so far the Volume use in all projects, even some parts in OW were great.
But in a healthy discussion like this I think we can give opinions of what we don't like, even if are little shots made by a modern technique, and we can discuss what looks better and what looks weak.

Hey did I catch a slight "easter egg" reference to Scarif.....did one of the Imperial officers mention a "large buildup" there or something?

I didn't put any words in your mouth.
Yeah. Of "construction material". Or something.

    Yes indeed.
    Construccion shipments going to Scarif.

This chapter has a lot of hidden references in dialogs (Hosnian Prime, Mimban, Utapau, Scarif...) and even in the museum, where there are a lot if stuff like Starkiller armor, walls from worlds between worlds, Gungan shield, carbonized art... will share photos later.

    Ep. 4 curiosities

    andor04carbon.png
Art in carbonite. That first one seems like Indiana Jones bullwhip :p

    andor04curwbw.png
    World between worlds wall pieces

    andor04gungan.png
    Gungan shield?

    andor04starkiller.png
I was not familiar with The Force Unleashed but everyone seems agree that this is Starkiller armour

Certainly this museum/shop has more interesting things to analize.

I suspect the carbon frozen pieces will either be creatures or items that will otherwise perish immediately if exposed to an atmosphere.

For my part, I got an aimmediate hunch that this young rebel was Chirrut Îmwe (of course, he is not). I don't know why...

    Agreed.

Wondering too. At this point he can go both pathes. Which one will he take ?
I'm sure he will chose the revenge : hunt, find and kill Cassian Andor.

    Goosebumps here too ;)

Geeze. Am I not alone ?
I was humiliated yesterday night, when girlfriend asked to me : "Hey boy, is Andor ep 4 out?" and I suddenly realized I was one day late!!!!

In Andor Episode I, the first time we meet Timm, he speaks about something to occur on Wobani.

    Well, my impression is sillier.
For a sec I thought Cinta was Andor's sister. And as Rael seems who Andor is and he was looking for him, maybe he gathered together.
    I leave it here XD

I enjoyed this episode because it built up anticipation for the battle to come. Mon Motham was awesome, it was good to see what home life was like for a senator & risks she takes showing support for the rebel side. Also liked Vel Sartha, I can see where Cassian got his future leadership skills & she is a great strategist.

On the basis that this runs parallel to Rebels (season 1 anyway), she’s secretly helping Bail Organa and the growing rebellion under the code name Fulcrum.

I wonder if it’s the Mon Calamari that Mothma was considering bringing into the fold.

As others have mentioned I really enjoyed getting a glimpse into Mon Mothma's personal life. I like that her spouse is not aware of her "other" dealings.... Plenty to unfold right there, she obviously doesn't trust him with that secret (and her life). I'm guessing at some point she has to choose between him and the rebellion, and I suppose it's not too hard to see why she chose what she did.

Cassian meeting the rebel camp was done very well too. I love that we know almost nothing about the whole lot of them. Outside of Cassian and Mon Mothma, we have no idea what anyone else's motives are.

Gonna catch the next episode tonight!
