Andor debuted its first three episodes today on Disney Plus and has received an incredibly positive reception from critics and fans.

The new series has debuted to a Rotten Tomatoes critics score of 88%, a higher percentage than both The Book of Boba Fett and Star Wars: Visions received in the opening days of their respective debuts last year. It also tops the score Obi-Wan Kenobi received back in May. For additional context, Chapter 1 of The Mandalorian received a 90% rating. For Andor to get so close to that with its own premiere is extremely positive, especially when you consider it had a larger pool of episodes to critique. Andor also has an Audience Score of 81%, which shows an increasingly rare scenario where both critics and fans agree on the show's quality.

Of course, this number will likely change as the series continues. The number of reviews tallied by Rotten Tomatoes will slowly decrease over the next few weeks, as fewer sites will continue to review episodes after the premiere, which often lowers the figure slightly across the season.

It's also important to note that the binary nature of Rotten Tomatoes' scoring doesn't accurately reflect the nuances of a critical review, merely totting up what it judges to be positive vs. negative reviews. While it's fine to use these scores as a guideline when checking out new films and shows to watch, it's always best to judge the content for yourself. In addition to Rotten Tomatoes, the early returns from Metacritic have the show at 74, indicating generally favorable reviews from critics there as well.

Either way, it doesn't seem we'll need to worry about this distinction with Andor, as the vast majority of people seem to love it so far. Long may that continue.
