Andor has walked away with a fantastic win at the 83rd Peabody Awards, in the Entertainment category for 2022. While most of us have heard of the Oscars, the BAFTA, and the Critics Choice Awards, among many others, the Peabody Awards are perhaps not as well-known.

To shed some light on what this award represents, this blurb from the official website sums it up nicely:

This is an excellent win for the creators, cast, and crew that made Andor such an entertaining and engaging show. The ratings for Andor definitely support this win, as Star Wars fans and critics alike were united in their praise for the show.

This is what the Peabody Award website had to say about Andor:

The Peabody Award will sit alongside the Critics Choice Super Award and the American Cinema Editor awards that Andor has already won. The awards celebration will be held for the first time in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 11, at the Beverley Wilshire Hotel.

The second season of Andor returns to Disney Plus in August 2024. While series creator and showrunner Tony Gilroy has paused working on the series in solidarity with the ongoing WGA strike, cameras haven't stopped rolling.

Extremely cool! I did not know that fictional works were eligible for a Peabody. I've always known it as a journalism or documentary award. Quite a prestigious thing for Tony Gilroy and Co. not to mention an uncommon award for Star Wars. Take that, LOTR!
