Are the three unannounced movies connected?

So, with Ahsoka now in the books and a few other TV shows on the way, fans are also eagerly anticipating three movies as well:

    Filoni's Mandoverse Movie
    Dawn of the Jedi
    Rey's Movie

Previously, I think most fans assumed these movies were mostly totally standalone. But with Ahsoka really opening up the universe, what if they're more connected than they seem? What if this next era of Star Wars is a multi-generation story, tied together by theme and story?

Now, I'm not sure whether or not there's a set order to these films for release yet, but I could see something like this loose outline happening:

    1. Dawn of the Jedi
On Peridea, Baylan Skoll encounters the ghosts of Mortis. They reveal to him memories of the Jedi's origins in this old galaxy.

In a frame story, Ahsoka and Sabine fight for survival against Shin Hati and her raiders.

In the flashbacks, Baylan discovers a dark truth about the history of the galaxy, and some terrifying being that the Jedi sought to protect the universe from. They locked it away, with the help of the Zeffo... here on Peridea.

At some point, this evil attacks, and some combination of the beings still on Peridea must either fight against or for it. In the end, it is implied that the evil escapes, and beings making its way to the GFFA... though perhaps others survived the fight, too.

    2. Heir to the Empire
    T
hrawn has reunited with the Shadow Council and has already begun re-subjugating systems. The New Republic is still weak, and Operation Cinder has spread so much misinformation and trauma amongst the galaxy that systems are eager to rejoin the Empire's idea of "protection".

Thrawn is the "protagonist" in this film, much as Thanos was in Avengers Infinity War. We see various of our heroes fighting against him... Hera and Ezra, Din/Grogu/Bo Katan, Fett and Shand. Maybe even some cinema magic to bring back Wedge leading a Rogue Squadron strike against Thrawn's fleet.

But no one can stop him... until they all band together, with the help of a newly arrived Luke Skywalker (possibly using newfound Observatories) to defeat Thrawn once and for all.

Once again, the galaxy seems at peace. But as the camera pans to the stars, we see the evil from Peridea still on its way. This film could also serve as a reminder that as bad as Thrawn was, he really was trying to create an Empire in the galaxy that could stand up to this exterior threat the Chiss knew about.

    3. The New Jedi Order
Rey has restarted the order, and it perhaps looks much different than anything we've ever seen. The galaxy is at peace, and the Jedi are once again the spiritual humanitarians they were meant to be.

But the evil from Peridea has arrived, and the Jedi (much like the Jedi of old) must once again defeat it, or risk total galactic annihilation.

Obviously there are some specifics here that make this little more than fanfiction, but that's just to illustrate how these stories could connect... but do you think something like this is in the works? Or are all three really more of their own thing?

As much as it frustrates me how the fans are so illogical in the insistence that SW must be done in trilogies, I do love the idea that these three movies announced at SWC will have a common theme and thread. Since that announcement I have hoped that Dawn of the Jedi and New Jedi Order would have some connection, but with Ahsoka S1 in the books, I do definitely see a path for all three to tie-in I do think that would require a certain order, which is likely gonna be the case anyway - New Jedi, Mandoverse, then Dawn of the Jedi. Another issue could be that if they are connected, it might keep any other stand-alone such as Taika, Shawn Levy or even Lando from being released until the "Trilogy" is completed.

Up to six months ago I was laughing this theory off as an infatuation with a mediocre book. Now, seeing where we left things in Ahsoka, I could see that or maybe a similar nod to the book. It will be simply a Tribute to the Title, because I don't even believe my own speculation about a loose reboot is possible.

But Wedge is alive and well. He survived the Saga. He could absolutely play a role. Wedge with Hera, Zeb, Carson Teva and Trapper Wolf... Now we're talking. Maybe this could be a way to put the Rogue Squadron project into capable hands and get an abbreviated version within Filoni's movie.

Good point, I could see an homage title. Something like "Heirs to the Empire", "Heir to the Galaxy", "Heirs and Shadows", etc. Something that plays to the nostalgia of the original without writing checks that won't be cashed.

Right, I'm not saying Wedge as a character would need to be resurrected. Just that rather than necessarily de-aging Wedge, they could potentially use B-Rolll for him in an X-Wing, like they did with some of the squadron leaders in Rogue One.

The three proposed movies already seem to be thematically connected. The three eras appear to reflect the formation of the Jedi, the reformation of the Jedi and the re-reformation of the Jedi. It would be pretty weird if that wasn’t an intentional through line between them.

But I guess it wouldn’t be too unprecedented for Lucasfilm if each of these projects are being developed separately and nobody’s actually talking to each other.
