SPOILER Battle of Takodana

I'm interested as well. There is a possibility that are still huge parts of the movie that we don't know about at all! Which makes me very excited. Maybe we don't know close to as much as we think we do...

 

True I haven't thought of that. We always assume when we hear "battle of ___" that it's a planet. It very well may be something else.

 

Well I think the attack on Maz's castle will be the sort of attack we saw on the Tantine IV, just stormtroopers rushing in and killing everyone.

Takodana is probably going to be the snowy planet where we get our climactic battle

 

When I hear Takodana all I can picture is this fella

 

A name like Takodana sounds Eastern to me which would align with some of the rumors regarding the studio toning down some of the Asian influences in a certain environment. I'm positive it's the name of Maz's planet. Also, the MSW synopsis mentions the resistance sending in X-wings to fight on Maz's planet, so that lends to the idea that it's a battle and not just castle patrons getting rekt by FO troops.

 

There's 3 battles with the one leading to poe's early capture. 4 if you include the falcon's escape of jukka.

 

I'm sticking with Takodana being Maz's planet. It's code name was "exotic city". Supposedly concept art of it Maz's planet was very Asian like and Takodana does have that feel to it. And as I said before the Maz Kanata from Takodana sounds like it would fit.

Any ideas if the planet surface is very green or a very barren wasteland. I'm starting to think the trailer maybe related to this planet instead of Jakku

I'm torn on this.

• The First Order Base looks to be covered in snow and I just have a feeling that they named 'Takodana' with warm, smooth sounding vowels to evoke a warm exotic planet. Just a gut feeling.
• However, If there's a battle it sounds to me like 2 armies standing up for a fight. With what we know of the attack on Maz's castle it doesn't sound like a battle in the traditional sense of the word. More an ambush of pirates by the First Order. Therefore a battle is probably more likely to take place on the planet of the First Order base.

But Jeez, I don't really know.....

 

"tako dana" is Bosnia for "both days"
"jakku" is Finnish for "jacket" (Poe gets his jacket on Jakku)
"rèn" is Vietnamese for "forged" (Kylo has a cross-bar lightsaber)
"maz" is Latvian for "little" (short pirate queen - little sword)

Maybe Takodana has both the dark and the light ... both days ... a planet with both a jedi and sith temple.

 

You using the meanings of certain names to speculate made me want to google the name Finn which means blonde. Well at least we know why he's white in concept art. lel

 

The report says it's called "Battle ON Takodana". This leads me to believe it may refer to the "giant pirate freighter" we have been hearing about. The more I think about it, the more the name seems to fit better with a ship than a planet. Also, if the name of the "pirate gang" that controls this ship is called the "Kanjiklub" as per previous leaks, the name "Takodana" would also fit with that.

Either that, or yeah, Maz's planet seems to be the other logical guess.

 

I like your logic. However, there's a small problem for me. If it were a battle on a pirate freighter called the 'Takodana' the grammar's all wrong. I suspect it would be "Battle on THE Takodana". Without the 'THE' in the middle it just sounds plain wrong.

 

Or just as blonde/new like Luke was in the beginning...

 

Never heard blonde used as a synonym for new.
