What a fitting way to honor one of the most beloved actresses of the Star Wars franchise. Carrie Fisher received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on May The Fourth, known to fans as Star Wars Day; now, it will forever be remembered as Carrie Fisher's Day.

The ceremony attracted a large crowd of fans and onlookers hoping to glimpse any Star Wars actors, and they weren't disappointed! Mark Hamill stood right beside Billie Lourd as she accepted the Hollywood star on her mother's behalf, while wearing an amazing Princess Leia dress with beautiful face glitter to finish the look (Carrie was always throwing glitter at fans at events).

Speaking with StarWars.com Lourd, who portrayed Resistance Lt. Connix alongside her mother in the sequel trilogy films, spent some time remembering how much the fandom loved and adored her mother. She was able to witness this herself as a child attending events:

Mark Hamill, who was a dear friend of Carrie Fisher's, also had some lovely things to say about her:

Lourd's speech was beautiful, and it was a very special moment for everyone to hear her talk about her mother with so much love and reverence. She said:

Fisher, who portrayed Princess Leia Organa in the Skywalker Saga, continues to inspire entire generations of Star Wars fans through her work on- and off-screen, her charisma, her sense of humor, but also her flaws and the way she embraced them as part of who she was. John Hoey wrote on this site a beautiful tribute to her back in December 2018, which you can check out here in its entirety.

So long, Princess. May the Force be with you.
