    Are we really arguing over whether a daughter looks like her Mom? :)

    Mark Hamill tells us (jokingly) that Carrie asked if there was a part for Billie within seconds of being told they were making TFA. If that's true, they likely gave Billie a small part with her Mom to assuage Carrie and give the fans a little something to chew on.

    Gliv seems to fit the bill. So sure, why not?

    Thats a side effect when people start to believe the resemblence heritage that Hollywood wants us to believe. Best example: is Hux a Skywalker or Tarkin son. While we all know how his real live dad looks like.

    Its pretty much her first role so I think the kids of Hamill and Fisher maybe playing some extras, just a little nod to the fans who know who they are. Things you would notice after repeated viewings.

    I am saying that over flashback. There are other more plausible roles

    The pictures are in support that I find similarities between mother and daughter (real life, not necessarily role wise)... which others do not find as compelling. I do think it would be an interesting Easter egg reference if Lourde is playing Gliv, and if Gliv is an aid to Leia, if she has some kind of decoy role ala the PT. That is a lot of ifs though... but for a director, casting a mother and daughter is not a thing that happens often enough to not have the desire to make use of that in a way that has impact...

    Exactly... any subterfuge would likely not last more than a minute or two... but... the fact that it would get included as an element

    She can have more than one handmaiden... or aide de campe... or whatever...

    Little trivia for you all. The Misdirection/Decoy version of Queen Amidala in The Phantom Menace was actually played by Keira Knightley. She was only 14 I think and it was her first or second film. I was at school with her at the time. :)

    Yes, I actually found out some years after the movie and up to that point I always thought Natalie was playing both roles.

    You are right in that in most scenes they have Natalie Portman play both so no one can tell any difference! However in the unveiling scene + one other, they used Keira in order to make them look different. Sadly I am not in touch with her. She was 1 year below me but I used to go out with/date one of her friends who I am still in touch with on FB :)

    I always thought it was a shame that Padme didn't have a handmaiden or decoy in RotS that went on to become a famous actress. What with Keira Knightley in TPM and Rose Byrne in AotC.

    I remember 100% she got the part or the 'chance' to audition and get the part largely because her mum was a semi-successful playwright in the UK who opened doors/connections for her. Would be v.odd otherwise for a 12 year old from London with basically no previous experience to go to Hollywood to try to get a part like that under any other circumstances.

    Other than that I remember she was very nice, and well liked. Kinda v.normal if I am being honest. A few years later when I was at university I got an email from our mutual friend/ ex girlfriend and she mentioned Keira is filming with Johnny Depp. I'd have no clue but this later turned out to be Pirates of the Caribbean :)

    12 sounds about right actually. I did the calculation, I was still fourteen years old by May 19, 1999 when TPM was released meaning she would be 13 upon the movie release and they obviously had filmed it even earlier of course.

    Y'all can debate looks all you want but Billy sounds EXACTLY like Carrie. Genes are interesting like in the way Harrison's sons don't even really look like him. Yet Anthony Ingruber a total stranger to him looks like a clone of Harrison he even has the crooked nose and I think a scar on his chin to boot.

    IMHO Portman became a big name for playing a lolita assassin. Knightly was by far a better actress, every bit as pretty and a more decent person all around...

    During SDCC, wasn't there a BTS footage showing a group of X-Wing pilots, with several female pilots among them? It could be that Billy Lourd played one of those pilots.

    you might be 100% right but i think shes a true perfectionist and could not acquire a different set of skills or suggestions from anyone else but her or what her acting coach taught her and that might have made her look inwards too much, too much ego and still too young.
