Amidst the uncertainty of the future of the company behind the remake of Knights of the Old Republic as parent company Embracer Group sold them to private investors and the cancellation of Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars first-person-shooter (FPS) comes a bit of good news: Bit Reactor's upcoming Star Wars real-time strategy game (RTS), which they are developing alongside Respawn, is here to stay.

In 2022, it was revealed that Electronic Arts commissioned three Star Wars projects for Respawn Entertainment to create; we now know these to be Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (which has been released), a Mandalorian-focused first-person shooter, and a real-time strategy game that they would be developing alongside Bit Reactor. On the heels of Electronic Arts laying off 670 employees and canceling the aforementioned Star Wars FPS, some wondered if the RTS game that Bit Reactor was developing is also at risk of being axed.

The good news is that the answer is no, and work is proceeding on the new title. Bit Reactor confirmed that the recent bad news for EA did not mean bad news for them in the following tweet:

As it stands, Bit Reactor has expressed continued interest in the Star Wars IP - their 'About' section on official website even includes photos of their staff decked out in Darth Vader and First Order Stormtrooper masks! Despite being a relatively new studio, key developers at the company have a good amount of experience working on several high-profile franchises such as XCOMMarvel's Midnight Suns, and Gears of War; you can read about some of their design philosophy here.
