Hello there. I wonder if there is anyone here who can help me with informations about the blu rays discs released so far.

Its been a long time that I dont invest any money in Star Wars media but recently I bought a blu ray player for only 20 bucks. So I am trying to find the cheapest blu ray discs from the saga.

I wonder if there is any release of the OT with the original version in BR.?? I found these Complete Saga with 9 discs for only 25 euros but I think these movies are the special edition (with Hayden at the end of ROTJ) and this one I want to avoid.

Any recomendation for someone who is trying to find the old version in Blu Ray?
This is the conplete set that I am talking about:

But there's also this version (I dont know if is the same):

Also I found the trilogies separated in PT:

    And OT:

    Wich one do you recommend?

    Thanks.

The above is the very first box-set release of 'the complete saga' on Blu-Ray.

All the others, at least as far as I am aware, are just repackages/relaunches/repressings of the same discs. So what you get movie-wise is exactly the same.

Unless somebody knows otherwise, I don't think there have been any other versions (officially at least) on Blu-Ray.

So yeah... it's the same editions of the OT and PT on all of them - which are themselves unique to the Blu-Ray, in so much as they have even more modifications and changes compared to the DVD editions.

With that in mind I couldn't recommend one set over another. Maybe just go for the one with the cover you like best? Or the cheapest!

    Thank you for your awnser.

I also was looking for some reviews online and I found one very interesting to me concerning the set with the 9 discs with Vader in the cover:

"Yoda in The Phantom Menace remains a puppet, and Vader never yells "Nooo!" in Return of the Jedi. Personally, I was relieved.

The originals (IV, V, and VI) are in their 2004 remastered versions, but my favorite thing about this set is that, on the bonus discs, you get the original theatrical releases of the films. Now, I remember hearing a lot of complaints about the standalone DVD releases (not this one) with this feature saying that it was just the laserdisc version with letterbox format. I don't know if that is what is in this box set, but it looks like standard widescreen to me"

@Messi Perhaps this will help: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars_home_video_releases I think it's a pretty comprehensive list with information about all home releases.

So you're looking for the "unaltered" non-Special Edition versions? They have never been released on Blu-Ray, only DVD.

Check out http://www.thestarwarstrilogy.com/page/Project-4K77 It might interest you. ;)

Well that's news to me. I've always understood the Darth Vader version of the 9 disc set to be nothing but a re-release. Nothing 'new' in it all. I'm not sure I'd trust that review - are you sure it's a review of that Blu-Ray set? If it is Blu-Ray (and not DVD), then I'd suggest it's possibly unofficial.

@srg Thanks for the links. Very usefull.
And the 4k77 is a very interesting project. I wish they release a version for a physical media also. He is working in the 4k83 and later he will do 4k80.

@Too Bob Bit yeah you are right. The reviews of the BR and DVD versions were all together, so I read the DVD review....
Unfortunately the unaltered version of the OT was not released in BR as you said.
So, I think I will buy only TFA, TLJ and maybe RO.

Don't forget to get yourself a box of tissues. Whenever I watch TLJ, I cry. A lot.

    Hahahha

I never cried watching a SW movie but I agree that TLJ is the more emotional of all them.
