That's obviously going to be season 3. Duh.
The biggest problem I have with the cameos is, there is nothing about them that couldn't have been done by Greef or Cara Dune really. Boba really just showed up for a fan service moment and to shuttle Mando around after he lost his ship and re-introduce Fennic, which could have been done by Greef. Personally, I think it would have been better if Greef had been collecting people like Fennic along the way to build a new guild and they could be Mando's team.

As of now it's just a launching pad for the other shows it feels like. The first half of the season felt like mostly a set up for Asohka, which when we got her was just a big set up for her own show.

I'd love to see Commodore Faro on the big screen. As far as I have seen, her part ends in Thrawn: Treason. It would be cool to see where she went after that, and how she served the Empire. And for me, it goes without saying, I would love to see Thrawn because, well, he's Thrawn.

I think critic Chris Stuckman said it best. Paraphrasing, the first season of Mando wasn't filled with fan service; the second season the creators can play a little, it's well deserved. Secondly, Cara and Greef did not take a backseat. Cara is now a marshall, she was just a drop trooper and Greef is not a Bounty Hunter's broker but sort of the Mayor or Governor. Both supporting characters have come a long way.

I think people want to see Mando changing Gorgu's diapers and playing house on the Razor Crest, or settling down and becoming moister farmers. Mando is a warrior and Grogu has power, a gift that needs to be developed. If Luke Skywalker remained on Tatooine as a farmer we would never get Jedi master Luke Skywalker. These characters are on a path or journey that must be explored and along the way, they'll encounter many individuals that we are familiar with. The first two seasons were about Mando and Grogu's journey.

Explain to me what more development do you guys want from the characters. I'd really like to know, plus the series is not over so there is further development on the way. I really think certain people are being pessimistic about the fan service. Fan service is not a bad thing as long as it's done right. We finally got F&F that understands what the fans want; nevertheless, you can never please everyone no matter how good the material is. Films and art are subjective to each their own. @DarthSnow

Also, there are only 8 episodes per season that might be an issue with character development. Most shows have about 24 episodes per season depending on the series and we all know that Mando's episodes are not cheap. The episodes are just as expensive as GoT.

Well. Yes they are those things and you see that for about 5 minutes. But you introduce them in season 1 and all of that happens off-screen.
I know he's a fan favorite but there's no reason Boba Fett had to be in the show other than fan service. Everything Boba did could have been Greef or Cara.
Instead of actually developing those characters we substitute weekly cameos and name drops. But we HAD to set up the Boba show here.

What do we want from characters? This isn't difficult. The moments Din had with Mayfeld. Why did we have to wait that far in to get these types of moments? These are moments that build characters and the world within the story. We just don't get a lot of them. The action stops and people just have a conversation.

Comparing it to Game of Thrones is great. Mando starts off at Season 6 of GoT and bypassed the first 5 where characters are given all the time in similar amount of time to grow as characters.

Using the strawman of "Oh you just want to see Mando changing diapers" is dumb and you know it. It's weak and lazy.
How many times has Din been challenged with his belief system of what makes a Mandalorian and it took until BILL FRAKKING BURR in episode 15/16 to have a real conversation about it. Would it have killed them to actually set this up and play with it more? This is character building. It's probably the most unique interesting thing about the Mando and we maybe get one or two lines about it before that.
"You took your helmet off. You're not Mandalorian."
"Oh. You're part of the order. A cult" Or whatever it was Bo said.

The time to slow down and have this conversation would have been with Bo explaining to Din the difference in Mando culture and such. Instead it jumps to action again setting up a different story.

Pedro Pascal is an amazing actor. and much like with Adam Driver, it's silly to hide them in a mask for as long as we have.

The real problem is most likely the length of the seasons, with more chapters the creators can go in-depth a bit more. With the number of episodes, everything is condensed. The cost per episode could initially be the reason for the number of chapters; however, your points are well taken. the chapter the believer had great exchanges between the characters but again I believe it's the length of the series, not the creator's faults, and I now understand why some would want more from the characters. Great response, thanks.

But it didn't stop Game of Thrones.
    It didn't stop other shows.

It's why some have issue with the MOTW episodes. Those are times we could have these moments.

I just rewatched Stuckman's review again, he states (paraphrasing) Star Wars is a serial, it's simple, it's not complex, sometimes emotional moments don't work, but I also like what he said at the end of his review about people liking something or hating something. It really doesn't affect you in any way. If people want to hate \ like it's ok, let them hate \ like it really not going to affect you in any way. I do thank you for your response again, character exchanges like Mayfield and Mando were great character developments and sure we need more of those.

Also for those that love ROTJ LUKE join the round table :D

I get it. Expecting Star Wars to grow and change is a futile effort at this point. We are going to stay mostly in the confines of the same time frame with the same characters doing the same kind of things until the end of time.

But that doesn't mean I can't *want* it to do better.

And saying Star Wars is simple and complex and the emotional moments don't work is a bantha poodoo cop out trying to get around criticism.
It's a series for kids. That doesn't mean it's above criticisms or it can't be complex and full of real emotional moments. Hell, Star Wars itself proves this wrong. It's plenty complex at times and has real thematic emotional moments.

This is like when people get pissy at criticism of superhero movies and decry "They're just superhero movies!" then get salty when they don't win awards.

This isn't me hating on Mando. I like the show. I just think it could be so much better but they (LFL) seem intent on taking the easy route right now instead of trying to do more.

I was going to hit your post with a disagreement, but I don't want to start a flame war as children do. Your comments are well understood and appreciated. Thank you so much for this exchange. Films are subjective we like and dislike art as we please. thank you very much, sir.

    Maz Kanata & Chewie.

I was hoping to see her with him in "Solo".

Din can ended up in a mission to Cloud City with Chewbacca. Recover Luke's blue lightsaber. Chewie takes him to a safe place in Takodana, where they meet Chewie's girlfriend, Maz. Din leaves the lightsaber with her, for safety reasons or in exchange for another valuable item.

Hm, what if Season 3 starts with an opening sequence about the Mandalore who claimed the Darksaber after what's his face made it.. Gives the audience some backstory without awkward exposition.

"I was 12. His name was Palo. We were both in the Legislative Youth Program. He was a few years older than I. Very cute. Dark, curly hair. Dreamy eyes...I went into public service; he went on to become an artist."

Palo is the linchpin holding this whole universe together. I think it's about time we get to see those dreamy eyes.

Below is a detailed artist rendering.

My first reaction from season 2 is that I do not want to see any cameos. With the Ahsoka show and Rangers of the New Republic that can feature cameos galore, I want Season 3 to get back to the basics- Mando going his own way doing tasks for random people. That was the beauty of the first season and they strayed a bit from season 2 (though the cameos were great, for what they were.)

However, with that said, if Disney insists on cameos, the one thing I want to see more than anything is trade federation battle droids. Why? Because I was thinking the other day: the clone wars had BILLIONS of those units, so what happened to all of them? They all could not disappear in just 30 years. Dave Filoni’s Resistance even featured one as a character for a couple episodes. Prequel critics will argue: “Well, they were not needed, so they were melted down...” Really? Every single one? Even the ones wrecked on battlefields of scarcely populated-planets? If they can explain how Anakin’s lightsaber and Vader’s helmet was found, they can darn well give us a few battle droids, even if they’re just sitting in the background as rusted junk.

Please not with that face. That is nightmare fuel :D.
Well, technically pushed off a balcony is not the same as dead in Star Wars ;).
Add in the groovy frog guy too for some harmonica beats :

This would be legendary xD. Only surpassed by the disgruntled spice miners on Naboo being further disgruntled for being falsely accused of attempting to assassinate Padme Amidala by the Jedi, and attempting to kidnap Grogu for ransom and revenge.
