    Doubt we ever see or hear about Chewie's "family" from the Holiday Special. IF we ever see or hear about Chewie's fam it will be different, IE NO LUMPY! :p

    In the old EU we did have Chewie's nephew, Lowbacca, as a Wookiee jedi. But the tall guy in the Thank You video could be Mayhew's double. Which makes sense seeing some recent pics of Mayhew in a wheelchair. This coming from MSW.

    I think it would be really strange to make suddenly a son appear.

    Guess poor ol'bacca never had a girlfriend or relationship. Too many adventures with Solo, and only a few other wookies outside Kashyyyk

    No wookie nookie for chewie? I also think the super tall guy in the thank you vid was just a stunt double. A cool new alien side kick is needed for the new trilogy.

    The christmas special is on screen, which makes it canon!...maybe...It was George's idea after all. It makes sense that we don't see Chewie's family. They don't owe Han a life debt. Only Chewie.

    Hm, an interesting question posed. For my two cents, I imagine them showing Chewie's offspring (if that indeed does happen) for one of two purposes:

    1) Solely to show the depth of the characters and play on our fondness of Chewie. Prep for tragedy later. Very brief.
    2) To introduce the new iteration of Chewie, if/when they decide to have Chewie die and basically be replaced with a copy. A bit more screen time I feel, but just enough to get us familiar enough with him for a possible supporting role in one of the next films.


    For some reason I don't see them throwing Chewie away in this movie. That said, if they do decide to pull a switcheroo, I'd rather "meet" his son (and I almost feel bringing in another wookie that it would have to be a son) before Chewie is gone, rather then just "Chewie dies at the end of this movie... and now in this movie here's his son! Yay!!"

    I think the "new alien sidekick" will be that short blue alien, tagging along with Rey.

    Chewbacca owes Han Solo a life-debt, not his ship or his son.

    If I may point out the leaked figure of "Chewbacca' does seem a bit scrawny for the standard wookie even if it was not final. Maybe it's lowbacca or any other relative to chewbacca. Didn't some leaks say something about Chewbacca having a robotic arm? If it is correct an new wookie character would make that leak still valid.

    Okay, it's like 1:03 AM where I am so my mind is not completely functional so I will take that fail, sorry for disappointing you all. (Such an amateur mistake on my part...) But then again... what if Chewie died? (That would suck...)

    Now that would be an interesting twist. What if Chewie DOES have a life debt to a Solo child that goes bad...and that evil little bastard makes Chewie sacrifice himself (or kill someone)...and Chewie is honour-bound to do so?
