IMG_0434.JPG Which Star Wars character (movies, books, cartoons, etc.) is the most overhyped?

Currently I would say Captain Phasma, but that may change in episode VIII.

I would also throw Director Krenic in as well.

Agreed. Captain Phasma. I hope we get to see more of her in Ep. 8 though.

The thing about Phasma is that she didn't do much in TFA, but she's presumably still very much alive to return in Ep8. To me, she has potential for total redemption.

    Here are some other thoughts:

-Boba Fett is an obvious choice. He does some cool stuff in the EU, but the proportion to his hype vs what he actually does in the films is absurd.

    - Darth Maul is killed early in his movie, true. But he does have some memorable scenes, so I wouldn't count him for this.

    - Darth Nihilus gets seen in a ton of the promotional material for KOTOR2, and he's a pretty interesting character, but he really gets shafted in the story.

    - Probably an extremely controversial choice, but Chewbacca. He does have some great scenes, such as stealing the AT-ST, but he far too often seems to just be a sidekick to Han. TFA even almost seems to make a joke out of the fact that we don't really ever see how powerful his bowcaster is until the sequel trilogy. In fact, I think TFA handled him pretty well, outside of getting snubbed of a Leia hug. So yeah, I love Chewie, I just wish he was treated better.

Sorry guys I'm going to have to go with old Boba Fett, as far as the movies go. I understand the expanded universe, he did cool stuff, but if it wasn't for being over hyped to begin with he wouldn't have an expanded story.
I actually like Krennic, I thought he was really funny, in a dry sarcastic sort of way.

I'm not sure Boba Fett deserved ALL the hype he got, but he was a cool character. His was mysterious and his interactions with Vader made it clear he was a bad mamma jamma. He stands up to Vader in a movie where everybody is scared to death of him and he's seemingly so violent that Vader has to reel him in. The mystery made him really cool though and they stripped away all the mystery in later material. So now I think he is WAY overrated because half the reason he was cool is gone, now he's an overused character who has cool armor.

I agree on Phasma, I'm assuming they'll attempt to correct this in future films though. She was mysterious and had cool armor like Boba Fett, but failed to be very cool because she didn't do anything (such as track down Han or talk back to Vader) and the way they got her to disable the shields took away any coolness she had earned to that point.

I half agree with you here. Phasma was a total let down but Krenic, well, I secretly loved the character. Shhh, dont tell anyone though.

I won't have many likes with this one but for me, it is Darth Maul.
