    IIRC, the old EU explanation for Dengar's injuries and subsequent hatred for Han was due to a swoop racing mishap where Dengar had wrecked. Since we know that at least speeder racing may be involved in this film, do you think that we might get to see this connection happen or at least to the character who would later become Dengar?

    I would love to see Dengar's backstory, because of the stuff Chuck Wendig did with his character in Aftermath trilogy. Whether they take his backstory from EU and rework it or make a new one, I surely hope that they would use him. Would they, I don't know - it depends on Kasdan, who by all intentions and purposes invented Dengar, but not his backstory.

    Forgive me, but how was he used in Aftermath. I still have not gotten around to fully listening to those books.

    Basically, because he is getting old and sees that time is up with the Empire falling, he wants to create the bounty hunter union so that they could have legitimacy under the Republic. He is beaten and berated by a younger, arrogant bounty hunter though you can see that he was great at one time, but by the end of the series he has the foundation for his Union - he and some other bounty hunters (including Embo) are pardoned by the Republic because they helped one of our heroes (BH herself) and became her crew. He was great, so I'd like to see his start after seeing the ending of his story.

    Yes, I was really surprised that Wendig made me care for Dengar. I never read old EU and didn't know anything about him, but he made me want to know more. That's why I'm hoping that you are right and he gets some backstory here.

    Isn't Dengar also Corellian? I'd love for Dengar (among other Bounty Hunters) to appear. Hell bring Simon Pegg back, cover him in scars and he'd look great.

    In the latest movies, it would be good to see good old bounty hunters. No character from this faction takes away some of the good Star Wars adventures.

    He was a minor character, but less so than ESB. I've read at least a half dozen new canon books since so it's a little hazy, but he was part of Mercurial Swift's crew looking for mainly Jas Emari on request of Rae Sloane. I think they were technically after Norra Wexley's whole crew as they were wanted by the imperial remnant, but mostly Jas due to Swift's history with her both in and prior to the aftermath books. Jas's history with Dengar and Embo becomes a factor in their shaky alliance with Swift.
