ANAHEIM – Space Mountain and Star Tours will have a new look this winter.

Kids will fight a new “Star Wars Rebels” villain in the Jedi Training Academy.

And visitors will meet Darth Vader and Chewbacca as part of Disneyland’s Season of the Force, a new “Star Wars” overlay to Tomorrowland announced today by Disneyland officials on their park blog.

Season of the Force will open Nov. 16 as a temporary yearly event to whet the appetite of fans until the “Star Wars” themed land opens in a few years at Disneyland. No closing date was given for this season’s event.

Most of Tomorrowland will transform into a temporary “Star Wars” haven:

    • The Tomorrowland Theater will show scenes from “Star Wars” movies.
    • Space Mountain will turn into Hyperspace Mountain with riders zooming through an X-wing starfighter battle.
    • Star Tours will feature a new scene from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the seventh movie in the series, which premieres on Dec. 18.
    • Darth Vader, Chewy and the rest of the crew will host meet-and-greets at the Star Wars Launch Bay inside the Innoventions building. The building previously housed the meet and greets with characters from the Marvel universe. No official word if the Marvel meet and greet will return later.
    • Star Wars Launch Bay will also contain exhibits of “Star Wars” ships and props from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” as well as Dark and Light Side of the Force themed galleries. In the Dark Side gallery, visitors will see Stormtrooper armor and Sith lightsabers, while the Light Side will feature Rebel flight helmets and Jedi lightsabers.

Starting in December, kids aiming to train in the Jedi Training Academy: Trials of the Temple will fight alongside yet-to-be-named new characters and a villain from the Disney XD show “Star Wars Rebels.”

Based on the Jakku 360 Speeder Run ... it seems highly likely that what we'll be seeing in Star Tours in Nov will be on Jakku - but maybe they'll throw in the attack on Maz's castle or the assault on Starkiller base. My guess is that as a "destination" Jakku or Takodana make the most sense. We'll find out soon!

They've updated the promotional points slightly.
    • Star Wars Launch Bay – This new area will offer opportunities to visit with favorite Star Wars characters, special exhibits, peeks at the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens and much more.
    • Star Tours – The Adventures Continue – This popular attraction will feature a new scene inspired by the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
    • Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple – Coming in December, a twist on the Jedi Training experience will introduce new characters and a new villain from the popular Disney XD series, Star Wars Rebels.
    • Hyperspace Mountain – For a limited time, guests will join an X-wing starfighter battle in this reimagining of the classic Space Mountain attraction.
    • Other limited-time experiences include:
      • An opportunity to revisit favorite scenes from classic Star Wars films at Tomorrowland Theater.
      • Special themed food and beverage, merchandise and entertainment.
So they seem to have spelled out that there might not be a new trailer in the Tomorrowland Theater - stating instead that it will be classic Star Wars scenes.

So we starting planning our Disneyland trip a few months back and when this news hit I instantly got WAY more excited about our trip! We will be there in early February and hope this is still going on when we arrive. Has there been any news for the duration of the Star Wars Season? I will be soooo disappointed if it ends before I get there!
