episode 9: return of the leia? speculations on what 9 was supposed to be like based on 8

    Leia was supposed to become a jedi in episode 9, trained by rey and must confront her son and the KOR to save him. Saving her son and making the movie a inverted return of the jedi

    where a child must save his father, while in episode 9 a mother must save her son. Here is the evidence based on the events in TFA and TLJ

    TFA quote: "there is light in him I know it"...leia

    ROTJ quote: "I sense the good in him i felt it"...luke

    TFA: "he was a jedi....your his father"(a reference to the idea that his parents must save ben solo, not a random jedi)

    TLJ: "hope is like the sun even if you do not see it....it will come"....holdo talking some ben solo redemption forshadowing

    TLJ: "I cannot save him" luke skywalker talking to freaking leia about not losing hope in her son!!!!

    this all leads me to think that the original idea was to have leia train herself to become a jedi and save ben solo.

    Making episode 9 into a big event...than carrie fisher died.

    Now i dont know how they are gonna make episode 9 a event. Leia becoming a jedi would have smashed asses on the seat harder than TFA in my opinion

    Interesting theory. I'm not sure if I believe it, but I guess we'll probably never know, unless someone talks after IX (which is possible, there'd be nothing to lose).

    But yes, seeing Leia as a Jedi would have been amazing.

    I thought something like that from the beginning and that Leia would play a big part in any redemption of Kylo/Ben if redemption was/is planned at all. I did not expect a lightsaber fighting Leia, but maybe some kind of force duel between her and Kylo, until she can get through to him. But we will indeed probably never know the original plan.

    Please don't use speculations as a fact. We don't know what Leia's role should have been in this ST (not George Lucas' ST).

    But yes, I do think Leia's story was to bring back her son or at least help with that.

    I wouldn't have liked to see Leia as Jedi. Because this would have taken away the focus of Rey, Kylo, Finn and Poe. It's mainly their story and this is how it should be.

    I think Leia would've been instrumental in bringing Kylo back, and I think that some manipulation of the Force could have been involved, but I doubt that she'd have been an actual Jedi, lightsaber and all.
