SPECULATION Episode IX Story Treatment Thread

Here's a treatment of the Episode IX I'd write:

We start with Leia's funeral. This is three years after the events of VIII. Poe is now in command of the resistance. The resistance is a rag tag band that can no longer fight the first order face to face. The resistance has gone underground. They've become a guerrilla force committing acts of sabotage on first order controlled planets. New republic planets are falling to the first order by the day. It is a desperate time.

Kylo and the Knights of Ren are based in the remains of Vader's Castle on Mustafar. Kylo is now haunted by the force ghosts of Luke and Leia.

Finn is on a mission to recover first order shuttle codes, so the resistance can infiltrate mustafar and destroy Vader's castle along with Ren.

Rey is a fully trained master Jedi. She interacts with the force ghosts of Luke, Yoda, Obi Wan, and Qui Gon. She has a full school of younglings, and two padawans. Rey has constructed a double bladed purple saber. Rey has established the school on Degobah as instructed by Yoda and Luke in a vision.

The central conflict that is occurring: Kylo and the Knights of Ren are hunting down force sensitives and killing/converting them into acolytes. Kylo is desperately trying to find Rey's new Jedi school and erase it.

The force ghost of Anakin begins appearing to Rey, and the disfigured force ghost of Anakin appears to Kylo. Anakin is guiding both sides of the force toward each other.

Finn is caught on Mustafar. Rey feels his pain and takes one padawan and heads to rescue finn.

Kylo finds Degobah and slaughters the younglings and the remaining padawan with the knights of Ren. It's an epic fight. The force ghosts of the jedi masters looks on in horror. Ren discovers where rey is headed.

Rey and her padawan enter Vader's castle. They discover the acolytes and are forced to defend themselves.

Kylo Ren appears. A single force ghost of Anakin appears, half dark/ half light. Rey represents the good in Anakin. Kylo is the evil. In this way, Anakin did bring balance to the force through his grandchildren. It's revealed Rey is Luke's child.

Rey and her padawan fight the knights of ren. Kylo only stands and watches. The padawan is struck down. All the knights of ren are struck down save one, and he's about to kill rey and end the jedi forever. The divided ghost of anakin says kill her, no save her. Kylo has to make a choice.

He saves her. He falls to his knees saying he's weak. Rey has the choice whether or not to kill Ren. She offers him to join her, but instead, Kylo willingly jumps into a lava to his death.
