Hear The Opening Music...

Wow Rey speaks an alien language!

I almost cried.

 

JJ said earlier that this movie won't open with the traditional pan to a spaceship; that they're doing something different. Listening to the opening music, I'm starting to think that the rumored opening of a lightsaber tumbling to a planet's surface is a real possibility.

 

I was listening thinking the same thing. I'm going to have faith in JJ and Kasdan here that they have thought of everything. Just a few more days!

 

Hmmmm... If not traditional opening, my money would be on the scene where rey pulls back the "starry sky" metal piece, from the trailer... But maybe not....

 

Apparently, someone pointed to me recently that the "stars" are REEEAAALLYYY just tiny holes in the door .

 

I think so too.

 

Ok, I've listened to that opening music and I'm convinced there is a light saber traveling at a high speed through space and crashing to the surface. There is a "vroom" sound in that track that almost functions as a sound effect for the saber falling. Then the music ends abruptly, probably as it crashed to the surface. Then it will pick up again. It felt very ESB when the probes are launched.

 

The music is fantastic (as expected). We're getting so close now

 

The new music sounded great, and was more similar to the OT than the PT.

 

During the first minute and a half, one person's score sheet is shown but I can't seem to pause it at the right time to see what it's saying...is anyone have any sort of LUCK to screen-grab it ?

 

Its to bright for me to see.... Its just white.

I agree we will probably start the movie with Rey on Jakku Scavenging... I can visualize a pan down to a downed star destroy.. then ends with Rey opening the door

 

Yeah, but if you watch it very carefully, again, there is a brief shot of ONE music sheet where there's black wording .

 

Right after the 60 minutes opening graphics? On the bottom right.... to me, it kinda looks like the big letter on the left side say Star Wars

Yes but it's what's under IMIA (Free Version) that is interesting... It says:

(Opening) Starry Night

But what's really interesting is that that is not the first piece, the one that JJ says comes right after the crawl. It's the second piece. So it seems to me that we have a very very short shot after the crawl (say a lightsaber floating through space?) and then we get the actual "opening" scene from the film, which is clearly the stormtrooper landing on Jakku.

EDIT: I was wrong about there being two pieces. He just has the orchestra hold before moving from the slower section into the uptempo section. I counted the measures and it lines up with his conducting.

 

I was more fascinated with the editing than with the music. The music still sounds great!
