During my rewatch of Andor, you can't help but notice the Hexagons throughout the background, buildings, etc. Also, a very evident Heptagon (7 sided object) and a couple Octagons. What does it all mean?

    Hexagons

Not a Heptagon but a multiple of 7 (everything at Narkina 5
seemed to be multiples of 7) - the rack stored 7 devices when full

Hexagonal shapes are one of the strongest and most efficient you can build with (just ask a honeybee!). Circles / Arcs / Ovals are likely stronger since there are no points and therefore weight or other impacts are distributed along the entirety of the shape, but they use more material to achieve. Hexagonals do the same thing with less material. Hence the use of them in hallways, doorways, etc. For those to be arced, ovaled, or even triangular the openings would have to be bigger to allow an average sized being through them.

You also have to take into account the multitude of directional forces some of these would shapes would experience, i.e. in space. For example, the St Louis Arch isn't going anywhere, but if you turn it on its side or upside down we're gonna have a problem. Hex- and Oct- shapes would have a greater diversity of function in that regard.

I think. I'm no expert in any of this, it's just how my mind sees it all.

Interesting. I noticed the use of circles and circular doors and windows also quite often. Mostly in Maarva's home, on the Fondor and around Ferrix. That makes sense what you said about strength...

The octagon in this situation makes perfect sense and I can't stop looking at it. Rotate in any way, and you are still standing on a floor, you still have walls and doors and a celing. Tilt it vertically and you have a ladder. A circle would work, but would be uncomfortable and disorienting to walk on and through. As you drop down from an Oct to a shape with less sides, you're limiting your options for functionality in 360 space, as well as opening up more opportunities for catastrophic structural failure.

Hi I'm Darth Snow, fake space architect, and thank you for attending my Ted talk.

There's definitely a contrast. They seemed to do sharp angles in the Imperial or institutional settings. Mon Mothma's apartment and Luthen's shop are odd because both angular and round shapes are used. Obviously they represent places where Rebel activity is happening in Imperial territory.

@MBWilson One of my random rewatches and just noticed we missed the hexes on , of all places, Melshi's shirt....by the way we are getting more Melshi in Season 2, I love this character and want to see how he becomes the grizzled Sergeant in the rebel forces in R1
