This is maybe my 4th or 5th favorite episode of rebels.

    good:
    * Seeing how a lifetime of war has turned Cham into not that great of a guy

*the look on Zeb's face when Ezra is oblivious to Kanan meeting the father in law for the first time.

*Seeing Numa return voiced by Cat Tabor (who did the twi'leks in the KOTOR series). The incorporated clone armor was a nice touch.

    * The rebels plan made more sense that normal.

    *The Kanan/Ezra slingshotting

    weird:

*hera's accent. I get what they were going for, with Allya having a french accent in the clone wars....but must they all sound the same? Plus, its not small shift when she "slipped" back into her old accent. I bet this will never come up again.

    bad:

*lifetime Cham followers switch to Hera's side a little too easily. They were ok stunning his daughter and crew but then defect at the drop of a speech.

I actually really liked the accent switch. It was unexpected, showed Hera's emotion, and showed that the persona that she presents to everyone else not who she always was. It actually made her seem like a much deeper character than she has been in previous episodes.

The way Kanan and Ezra work together is amazing. I miss seeing scenes when Kanan trains him but clearly we are seeing the results. It looks like Kanan is becoming more powerful as well which make me wonder if the purge hadn't stunted his growth could he have been as talented as Ashoka or even Obi-Wan. I liked the accent thing as well. My wife is from Jamaica and when she starts talking with family the accent really comes out.

I did not mind the French-sounding Twi'lek accent reappearing when Hera was angry, but the switch of the other Twi'leks was done too fast. They did not mind stunning the Rebels, and 10 minutes later they decided to change sides and abandon their leader of the last 20 years. If they had shown that they had reservations, then it would have been easier to accept the switch.

As I had several times this season, the episode felt rushed. I feel that, if the episodes would be three to five minutes longer, then the episodes would have been much better.

Not a bad episode, but I am becoming impatient for the things that we saw in the mid-season trailer. I want the Sith temple, Ahsoka vs. Vader, etc. Next week will be about Zeb vs. Agent Kallus ("The Honorable Ones").

I was surprised when Hera changed her accent (one of my favorite parts of the episode). I loved it.

Overall, I think it was a great episode... fun and with character development. (Kanan was hilarious). I'm looking forward to see the next episode.

I thought the switch makes sense. They followed Cham's orders to the best of their ability, but to betray fellow rebels after you give your word to help them had to seem dishonorable. To waste a resource like the carrier didn't make sense and the reason why he wanted to destroy the carrier was pointless. He already had a moral victory in Lords of the Sith and it didn't change anything.

Watching the Collider Jedi Alliance review. They hated it.

But I'm not on board. It was a good episode, and don't see the issue with these character-driven stories.

Maybe it's because I thought Lords of the Sith wasn't that great. ;)

I actually did enjoy Lords of the Sith(weird continuity errors aside ;)), but I still didn't have a problem with this episode. I'll admit that the characterization of Cham was a bit odd considering where he was at as a character at the end of Lords of the Sith, but a lot can change when you are fighting a war continuously for years on end. I like the character driven episodes just fine as well. I liked this episode, however I was expecting more when I saw quite a few people calling it the best episode since the "Siege of Lothal" with Vader. I definitely enjoyed it, but I think there have been other better episodes this season.

Did anyone else noticed the continuity error? When they're approaching the light cruiser, they talk with a blond commander. But when they were on the bridge, it was a Imperial with dark hair. And in the end, the blond guy reappears as the commander of the other light cruiser.

Hera's just that good of a speaker! But seriously I agree with you on all quoted points. I enjoyed the episode a lot (especially Kanan meeting Cham and his stressing out), but I'm not sure if it's in my top 5 just yet. We'll see where the rest of the season goes. I'd actually like Numa to show up again and more often too. It would be cool if Cham did, but it'd be more interesting to see how Numa and Hera are alike and different since they're roughly the same age (give or take five years) and probably have vastly different-yet-still-paternal relationships and views of Cham.

The inclusion of another ship class from the Old EU/Legends is always welcome. The Quasar Fire-class carrier originally made its debut in the 1994 novel "The Truce at Bakura" as the Flurry, a ship in the Rebel Alliance Fleet.

Also, I thought Hera's reversion to her native accent was interesting. Makes me wish she would use it more often.

I agree with OP with the failures of this episode. The accent thing was way too weird. Although I didn't like how they did Cham at all. I can see how he could get to that point in 13 years, but I feel they did him a great disservice. Also the flip flopping of him and his crew was another inconsistency that was frustrating. Best part for sure was Kanan and Ezra and the fact that we are getting back to the meat of what made us like the show....Rebels fighting Empire!!!!

It seems that a recurring theme in Season 2 was to explore the past of the main characters, and to provide connections with The Clone Wars series. In this episode, we meet Hera's father: Cham Syndulla, someone we already knew from TCW, a leader in his homeworld.
To me, this adds to the already open speculation about Sabine's family tree, considering the hints we received from her in the episode "The Protector of Concord Dawn".
