... what do you think or would want to be rebooted?

How far back would the universe go?

Do you think (or would you want) to keep spin offs like R1? (and now maybe Solo?)

Would you prefer no reboot, but just starting over like a Kotor style, move so far ahead or behind that the events of the saga are rendered irrelevant?

Would you be okay with a recast of Han, Luke and Leia for movies after RotJ? How about re-imagining the OT?

Would you want new stories or something to loosely or tightly follow the EU?

I don't see SW in major danger of a reboot any time soon. As long as they are raking in 1B + a movie, I think it's pretty inconceivable. That said, if EPIX struggles to get 1B and subsequent movies can't pass that target then sooner or later, decisions would have to be made.

Mostly though, this is an exercise to explore the possibilities. Whether or not you like the ST, I think a reboot could probably still have appeal to anyone.

This is what's probably happening with "Rian's trilogy". His movie will be so far behind the events of the saga that you can see it as a new start.

But the OT or PT will never be rebooted. I'm sure about that.

I don't see the OT or PT getting rebooted as long as GL is alive. Once he's gone though, I wouldn't count it out of the realm of possibility. I think Disney would have to consider long and hard, but as those fans who first experienced the OT start to dwindle, and new fans form the majority, well... maybe then. Of course there are many factors that play into that too. If the ST holds well after 20 years and is seen as a fan favorite for the new fans at that time, it probably won't happen, they'll just keep building up as the OT, PT and ST being foundation pieces.

Never is, after all, a very long time. :)

I agree, never say never. In some moment in the future, the first Star Wars movies will look as outdated as Renaissance paintings and, if we're lucky, someone will want to retell the story with modern sensibilities. Imagine all the retellings of King Arthur in the last thousand years!

Post-"Return of the Jedi". That is where the problem began for me.

I think ANH will be rebooted but in 40 or 50 years. Not early than that.
A lot of classics already had been rebooted. Some examples:
    - Nosferatu (1927) - Nosferatu The Vampire(1979)
    - The Thing from another world (1951) - The Thing (1982)
    - The Fly (1958) - The Fly (1986)

    And so on...

They are currently putting too much effort into building a consistent universe with movies, tv shows, books, comics etc. So, a reboot would be something either very different or will be made many many years after the current canon would stop being actively worked on.

And I personally wouldn't mind some new "Star Wars" with some modernised designs and concepts. Although, Prequels kinda did that, in way, already.

It was basically rebooted already. In 2012.

Just set it in a time period without the crutch of the OT they have been way to reliant on. No reboot necessary.

I would love them to reboot the Prequels. Maybe do it Princess Bride style buy having the current prequels actually a mythic story being told by some old survivor before they drift off into a flash back where we see what really happened.

Actually I am happy for them to tell new stories and just move on from the old stuff.
