This week, Lucasfilm announced on its social media hiring channels that Lucasfilm Animation is now looking for more animators. With the studio now having completed work on The Bad Batch, the job listing could indicate a possible uptick in future Star Wars animation projects.

The official posting has been provided down below. It indicates an opening for a mid-level animator, but doesn’t specify what projects they could be working on:

Even though we are currently in the midst of the final season of The Bad Batch, with new episodes still coming out, it could be that Lucasfilm Animation already has another big title currently in the pipeline and is staffing up because of this. Following The Bad Batch, the next series currently scheduled is Tales of the Jedi Volume 2. But after that, the current rumors are that following, Tales of the Jedi Volume 2, there will be more Tales of the Jedi anthology series. These spinoffs supposedly will focus on Sith, Bounty Hunters, and possibly other factions in the Star Wars universe. Even then, it’s possible that there could be another major animation project in the works besides Tales of anthologies, being that Tales of the Jedi Volume 1 was worked on alongside The Bad Batch.

However, the listing could also be for anything Lucasfilm Animation-related. This isn’t a firm confirmation of any new Star Wars animated projects in development.

This is also good news considering the massive amount of layoffs that have hit the entertainment industry, especially video games. Just yesterday, Electronic Arts (EA) announced it will lay off around 670 of its workers, affecting even Respawn Entertainment's unannounced game. It was rumored that the unannounced game was going to be a first-person shooter Mandalorian game. Any hopes of that coming out are all but effectively now gone. It’s hoped by the writer that some of those affected by the industry's recent layoffs could possibly find another job here at Lucasfilm Animation.

We will continue our coverage of everything Lucasfilm Animation, including reviews of The Bad Batch season 3 episodes in the weeks to come. We also like to wish good luck on any and all applying for the position.
