Thirty years (at least) had passed between "Return of the Jedi" and "The Force Awakens". Did it really take Luke that long - at least twenty years or so - to revive the Jedi Order?

He finally got some patience. Yoda would be proud.

Well really, it did get revived, and then taken down in that time.

I guess you can't find, then train, a bunch of new Jedi in 5 minutes. Especially when the training you recieved was limited and unconventional yourself.

You can't really blame poor Luke for wanting to take some time out to work on the selection processes and curriculum a bit after that.

In a perfect world I think a handful of Jedi knights would not be out of the question by the time of TFA, but we know Star Wars (at any time, but in this instance the post-RotJ era) isn't a perfect world and we know what happened to the handful of trainees. Regardless of what Yoda said in RotJ, the point made that Luke's skills and knowledge were not fully refined after the events above Endor is valid. Luke would need to continue his own training before concerning himself with the training of others, at least for a time. Sans Snoke's interference it's conceivable to have at least half a dozen Jedi knights by 30 years post-RotJ.
