    Hey guys,
Kind of burning the candle at both ends today. I posted the review here. Having some computer issues, so the link is the best I could do this evening. Thank you for bearing with me.

I loved this issue. I hope people don't mind my Mad Max comparisons. I'm a huge fan of that franchise as well.

    What did you guys think????

First off, I love the review! It captured a lot of the feelings I had about this issue.
But I figure I can nuance my views a bit here, too.

    1) I'm really (really [really]) in love with this art style. It's just so sleek and beautiful. I can just stare at any random page of this series and get my money's worth.
    2) Yeah, Palpatine is so incredibly obviously shifty here, but I kinda like it (I mean even when he was ostensibly good, he was a shady dude)
    3) On that note, I'm glad to see the flashbacks continue. I wasn't 100% sure that they would.
    4) I do find Anakin a tad bit whiny, but I can't fault him for that. I mean, I've accepted that's just kinda who he is now.
    5) The "modern-day" conflict is starting to look interesting and I'm looking forward to learning more about these cultures.

I was cautiously optimistic last month, but no more! I have confidence in this series going forward.
There's still a chance I guess that it could fall on its face, but I think that that's an increasingly unlikely possibility with as good as it is so far.

All in all, if this series keeps up at this level of quality for all 5 issues, it'll be by far my favourite of these miniseries!

Thank you, and thank you for sharing! You bring up a lot of good points. Checchetto and Mossa are my favorite artists in the SW comic world right now. I'm looking forward to Phil Noto's work in Poe Dameron, as well.

I'm happy they are only dedicating 5 issues to this story. I think we've spent enough time in the prequel era. Though I love revisiting it, I want more OT and the gap between ROTJ and TFA. This would be a nice series to pop up once a year in 5 issue increments. Maybe we even get a Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan series???

I'd also like to get more back room Palpatinr stuff as well, whatever era. It's creepily amusing to watch him pull the strings.

Great review @Kyle. I am enjoying this series. It feels new and different - it doesn't feel like a carbon copy of anything else in Star Wars and I think that is a good thing. This is really, IMO, the most imaginative of the SW series so far. Nostalgia is good, and there's certainly some of that in this series so far, but I like that these first two issues have brought something fresh to the table.

One of the things I loved that just made me laugh out loud was the female Hutt with the eye shadow and bikini top. Sure, it was weird, but I thought it showcased the fact that these creators are not afraid to play around in this universe and have a little fun in the process.

Can't wait for issue #3, and man...I love the art...Checchetto and Mossa are a great team. I enjoyed their work on Shattered Empire immensely and I hope they team up for an ongoing series in the future.

Super badass Obi-Wan. That is all I got. :D

I'm joking. Art is beautiful and I enjoy the glimpses into the past. I agree with you, @Kyle , how they didn't catch Palpatine's shifty ass, I'll never know. Also, I always enjoy when SW goes into the horror territory.

Now, that I would love to see. As he is the one who originally obtained the knowledge of Force-ghosting, we need more in-canon Qui-Gon. And I am always for more Obi-Wan.

So far, I am liking mini-series a lot. Considering the next issue cover, it seems I will be getting my horror. :D

When I was younger I used to really enjoy the Jedi Apprentice series of junior novels with Qui-Gon and a young Obi-Wan as a padawan. I don't think we need to translate every EU story over into canon with a new version, but I would like to see an Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon comic mini-series eventually. I don't think it will happen, but I'm up for it.

One thing I forgot to mention is how much I love the attention to detail in the new canon comics so far. This series is no different in that arena. I thought seeing Anakin struggle with using the Force to calm the creatures was really cool. This is a specific skill that he has mastered by AOTC and it's nice to see that they are paying attention to things like that.

I also liked how he dealt with not being able to handle them using the convention of the Force...just slaying them all. Even though these creatures were non-sentient and their deaths were relatively inconsequential, I thought the panel with young Anakin standing with his lightsaber and all of the dead creatures around him was a nice bit of foreshadowing.

@Kyle, great review man! This issue was a great follow up! Anakin was perfectly characterized, and seeing the Chosen One struggle and kill, like we see him more easily do in AOTC, was great. Palpatine is one crazy smart dude, and he's doing better than I imagined, twisting Anakin's mind. Obi-Wan sounds and acts like the one Anakin occasionally references in AOTC, but I want to see more of the "aggressive discussions" that can only continue when Anakin is overcome with a now reasonable and solidified teenage angst and confusion. I also want to see Obi-Wan be a bit weak, he was played by Dooku, so I want to see a bit of his shortcomings, but I don't think everyone would want that :p

@Kyle thanks for the review! Enjoyed this issue, actually I didn't notice at first it was from Checchetto and Mossa but noticed Mother Pran and Kolara looked a lot like Shara Bey at "Shattered Empire" :D

    1) "Who needs a blaster by their side when you’ve got a perfectly good lightsaber?" Tell that to Han Solo lol in ANH.
    2) When Obi-Wan told Anakin to use the Force to drive the Corpse-Leeches away (I know, that's a cool name!) and Anakin replies: "I'll try, Master", just for a moment I thought Obi-Wan would reply as Yoda in ESB lol. ("TRY NOT!") :D
    3) I found the flashback to Palpatine taking Anakin for a walk in the lower levels of Coruscant really interesting. It is good to see how the Chancellor/Sith starts influencing the young padawan.
    4) And talking about that club, it looked a lot like the crew in Jabba's palace lol. Only that the Hutt creature was wearing make-up lol.

I don't get why he is so violent at this stage of his development. You can count on one hand how many people Obi-Wan killed. It would make more sense if he had cut off hands and arms. Didn't he just cut the barrels off guns without out the native people so much as losing a finger.

I loved this issue as well. The artwork was spectacular! At first when I read the first issue I was unsure of it and the only thing that interested me was the artwork. But once I read the second I fell in love.<3
