While Star Wars: Visions volume 2 is still months away, there are more stories to tell from the worlds of season 1. Marvel’s Visions one-shot comic set in the world of The Duel is coming next week.

StarWars.com has released a preview of the upcoming story, which is written and illustrated by Takashi Okazaki, who was one of the artists behind The Duel. The preview also reveals it’s a tale set before the Ronin came to the village as seen in the animated series, with pages showing the art is unsurprisingly consistent with the style employed by Kamikaze Douga in the award-nominated short.

In The Duel, the Ronin and his droid, R5-D56, confront a Sith bandit. It was then revealed that the Ronin is also a Sith, with the fight between the two ending with the Ronin victorious and the bandit seemingly dead. The sequel novel Ronin, by Emma Meiko Candon, revealed the bandit (Korru) was very much alive, but with a twist. Yes, this is a shameless plug to read the novel if you haven't yet.

Back to the present -- or past? The prequel nature of the comic makes it clear this won’t contradict either of those stories on that front. Although seeing as Star Wars: Visions resides in its own continuities, it wouldn’t be the end of the world if there was a contradiction somewhere. The whole point of the series is to give everyone their own voice in how they see Star Wars, which is something executive producer James Waugh touched on when talking the series earlier this year.

Unfortunately, since Visions #1 is considered a one-shot, there won’t be more issues from Marvel at this time. Star Wars: Visions volume 2 is due out next spring and will branch out into more of the world with shorts from countries like India, Spain, South Africa, the United States, and more.

Marvel's Star Wars: Visions #1 will be available next week, on October 12th.
