Star Wars spotlight of the week... Mas Amedda

All to the good... why am I mentioning this here and now...

For all intents and purposes, Mas Amedda was Palpatine's #2 man, politically speaking. He was the Vice Chair. We tend to focus heavily on Vader because he was the apprentice, but while Vader was the proverbial right hand, the sword with which Palpatine used to enforce his will, it was Mas Amedda who dealt with the political aspects of running the Empire.

So? Well... with Palpatine gone, Mas Amedda would be the logical choice to step in to the role organizer... the one who could hold the remnant together... dare I say the next Emperor?

Of course, he would be nothing without the support of the Imperial Navy, that goes without saying... but admirals tend to make lousy politicians, and there would need to be someone to fill that role in bringing the logistical support together if the fleet were ever to be hoped to be maintained....

We did not see Mas Amedda in the OT, but there is no reason to believe he was not there dealing with the political aspects of things while the movies focused on the military and force related events...

Where does this tie in? We know that there will be a PT character turning up, and we know that there are rumors of someone who chases Sith artifacts, and oddly enough Amedda was relegated to reclaiming lost Sith artifacts from worlds previously quarantined by the Jedi Order when his position became irrelevant

 

Unknown... Mas Amedda was a Chagrian, and they live about 76 years... they would be old, granted, but politics is a game for the old and wise, but it really all depends on how old they were in the OT

 

Well... I wasn't thinking it was in the new movie because it was in the spotlight... the spotlight brought it to mind, and I started thinking about it...

and not for nothing, but with the collapse of the Empire, and the Alliance not yet able to secure the resources yet, other factions such as the Trade Federation might take hold again... there is concept art with Leia and the Hutts... and Warwick Davis is in the movie, and Endor is one of the locations...

Just sayin...

My business partner is actually from Oxfordshire and went to school in Didcot... she said it is a wee little place, very poor, a "working man's place"

The reports of filming there were on Sept 15... as you can see, the Didcot power station can be seen just beyond the railway station



The power station was then demolished



Whether the demolishing of the power station was for this, or just increadible timing, I can't say... but, as a direct quote, "Nobody goes to Didcot. I mean everybody goes to Oxfordshire, its very upscale, everybody likes it. I am blown away, I know that place very well, I don't come from upscale, it is a working place. Look for Sutton Courtenay about 3km from Didcot" (It really helps to have relatives on location )

 

I can't speak to that... I can say that the talk in the pubs was a little different...

 

If you can agree that just because Warwick is back in, it doesn't mean he will be Wicket, I will agree that just because they go back to Endor there won't be ewoks...

 

Very possibly true... Warwick has become rather a major part of fan interaction, and it's just plain old good marketing to put him in there. He could be a doorknob and the fans would rejoice...

 

Alright that is a possible... I can tell you for a certainty that there was filming going on there, but I can't tell you honestly what it was that was being filmed... tried to have a a conversation about it but really they honestly could care less... some of the lines in the conversation were (if I remember) I asked and they said it was some military thing of some sort (which I of course took to be Imperial) and I asked if they had seen any set pieces, and (literally) started having a conversation about how Mandy had chipped one the new cups, and the setting just wouldn't be right anymore... so I asked if there had been any unusual vehicles parked about, and was told that if she did, she was going right around to the counsel, because you just can't go parking those things around and leaving them... somebody has to clean these things up...

It was a frustrating conversation... but what I took from it was a confirmation that there was filming of some sort going on... and apparently things went well because rounds were being bought that night for some of the locals that had helped out

Not wanting to clutter you all with the rantings of family, I edited it down to "I can confirm they were shooting there"

I think, looking at the backstory, you can understand why...

 

Again, I go back to the quote that says that nobody goes to Didcot... I cede... but the fact that there could be two productions going on, totally random that they are connected by random names in random locations and randomly happen to randomly film at randomly the same time randomly just down the lane (literally) from each other... classic... just freakin classic... you can't make this stuff up, and you can certainly see why people were confused...
