    PMC - Private Military Contractors/Companies

TFA - The Force Awakens (in case you were caught sleeping on Name Day :D)

Since ROTJ, the galaxy is likely still a hot mess. Remnants of the Empire fighting amongst themselves for control while The Galactic Republic tries to fold their former enemies into a peace treaty. Seems like there would be a huge opportunity for a PMC to enter the arena. A private security firm for hire by either side (peace hungry Republicans or power thirsty upstart Empire officers). Do you think we may see a Star Wars equivalent of something like a Blackwater (google them) headed up by some iconic figure?

Basically a group of ronin. Ex-military types ready to do anyone's dirty work for a price. Maybe there are even a few rogue jedi in the mix.

Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks buds!

Well, that's what Mandalorians used to be on the UE...

Aah... You're right. Soooooooo do you think they'll be in TFA?

I don't think so. They didn't even cross my mind because I'm imagining more of a ragtag group of mercenaries... All looking different and united by the chase for the almighty dollar. Not a bunch of guys in similar armor. Doing that will lessen the impact and mystery of Boba Fett. At most, one character may have a tie to the Mandaloorians but personally don't see more than that. (That's what the Fett movie is for?)

Well, maybe not like you depict them, but I'm quite confident that we'll see some Mandalorian(s)

I like the idea, but wonder if there will be room for this in the ST. As an enemy in a stand alone film, I like the idea. Perhaps a cold war between the hutts and the mercs sent to clean up the outer rim on behalf of the new republic or old empire. Could be an interesting foe for Boba Fett. Someone to hate more than a bounty hunter. Paid mercs may just fit the bill.

Space Pirates are another category of mercenary, and I believe a gang of them are rumoured to appear in The Force Awakens?

You just know some Disney suit pitched this in an elevator:

Captain Jack Sparrow meets Captain Harlock.

And, y'know what, I'd buy that. If they retain a touch of the classic pirate personality without OD'ing on it like Sparrow, it could be just the thing Star Wars has needed for years. The stuff has taken itself so seriously, it just dies on the screen. Even Rebels which is for kids suffers from this malaise cast over every episode. Let's have some fun, for Han's sake. It's Star Wars!! Woooot!

I hope Oscar Isaac is either head of a PMC style unit, Mandaloorian even, sure. Or make him a space pirate with swag. We need a cool character. And not someone tryhard, rather a natural born scoundrel. With a cape!! If we're not getting Lando, and Han's a family man dealing with bigger issues, we need a wise cracking sexy dude. Far too many boyscouts in the mix.

    Ladies, you're welcome!

A spacy Captain Sparrow teamed up with Han Solo on a race across the galaxy would spice the saga up a bit!

I'll be shocked if we don't see Mandalorians in this trilogy, so much has gone into them and their armor now.

I really like the idea that Oscar is a Mando (not sure of he should be the son of Fett, which I've seen thrown around).

Definitely like the mercenary angle, regardless.

I mentioned PMCs aka; Blackwater aka; Xe lol...
It "could" make sense for rogue Imperial troops to be paid mercenaries or act as insurgents for other big-shots.
After the Empire falls a lot of crime gangs or syndicates may pop up.
It could explain Leia's meeting with the Hutt High Council or how Han gets a Super Star Destroyer. ;)
I highly doubt a large faction is as structured or motivated as the OT Imperials.

Star Wars needs some PMCs in it. I was thinking yesterday that the Queen of Naboo should of just hired some PMCs to take back Naboo in Episode 1.
