SPECULATION Princess Rey

Imo Adam Driver was talking about Leia. Rian Johnson collaborated with Claudia Gray on the book (Bloodline), so that's that.

 

The more I think about it, the more I think that he was talking about Rey (not Leia, as I first assumed).
But I also think he didn't reveal nothing new.

"Princess" is metaphorical (see JJ quotes) and it doesn't have to do with her originis.

And all the "hiding her identity to survive" is what we saw in TFA.

She knows deep down that her parents are never coming back.
She's an orphan, or she's been abandoned for good.
But she doesn't want to admit that truth... to survive.

That's all.

It also alignes with Rian tweet about "Crippled Inside" as a song that may rapresent Kylo and Rey dynamics.
They're both hiding to themeselves how much broken they are. But for opposite reasons.

 

I think this has to be metaphorical. Its far too big of a spoiler to be given away in an interview. If it is then Adam Driver has just made a hoooooooooge mistake.

 

Just a metaphor, no doubt in my mind Driver knew what he was doing though.

 

I personally think that AD is referring to Leia... but i had to read his comments in GQ a couple of times before thinking that.
(agreeing with @RockyRoadHux who sneakily posted while i was typing this.. i'm not fast enough!)

i know that JJ did once refer to Rey and Kylo as prince and princess.... but Leia is my one and only princess in Star Wars.

i also think that both Leia and Kylo are both in hiding from who they are and their importance in the Galaxy. They both put on a mask to conceal their Skywalker heritage (one being metaphorical in Leia's case)

She will not refuse a second time.

The interesting things about the dolls:

-we are going to see a Rey-Kylo episode of Forces of Destiny in 2018 since every FOD dolls pack is based on an episode of FOD.

-Forces of Destiny episodes are canon events not that seen in the movies.

-Rey and Kylo have their Episode 8 look on the dolls.

-Finn has no doll despite the fact that he's in one episode of FOD with Rey.

-Kylo is the only "bad guy" in the dolls and is only sold with Rey, and is the only man sold with Rey.

-the target of the FOD episodes and the dolls is little girls, Disney knows the little girls will play with Rey and Kylo dolls as a romantic couple and made them kiss.

-All FoD episodes have a good message for kids so it has to be something about working together / having compassion.

 

Don't think Driver would've let that slip, he has been the most "tight-lipped" during pre-TFA and TLJ. He probably just used princess as a metaphor

 

You know that's not the same shot, right? She is talking to Luke. But Ren is still reaching out to Rey, that's for sure.

I agree with some of the other posts. It's a metaphorical usage of the term princess. JJ did it, now Adam Driver is doing it too.

 

Adam Driver is quickly starting to become the Mark Ruffalo of Star Wars.

 

I honestly think he was speaking metaphorical. If not, things just got interesting. It totally reminds me of Space Balls where Lone Starr is in fact a real prince but he doesn't know it yet.
