The Coronavirus global pandemic has postponed or canceled a number of public events this year, but Star Wars fans always find a way to bring light into darkness. That's especially true with the Rancho Cucamonga Public Library who are holding their annual Star Wars Day celebration May 28-30 as a virtual event.

Fans can participate through the Rancho Cucamonga Public Library’s Virtual Star Wars Day YouTube page. This year's festivities kick off at noon PST on May 28th, and each day will bring fresh, new content. The family-friendly event will feature Darth Vader storytimes, panels featuring Princess Leia voice actress Julie Dolan and Star Wars authors Michael Kogge and Kevin Schnick, lightsaber battles courtesy of the Saber Guild, a costumed procession of 150+ characters courtesy of the 501st, Rebel Legion, and the Mandalorian Mercs, as well as a special tribute to the legendary Jedi Elvis and more. The event will be emceed by the one and only Obi-Shawn Kenobi.

This is a fantastic event for local and even non-local Star Wars fans of all ages to celebrate a galaxy far, far away. For over the last decade, the Rancho Cucamonga Public Library’s Star Wars Day has been the largest Star Wars public library event of its kind on the West Coast. The event has been featured in the pages of Star Wars Insider, at Star Wars Celebration, and at San Diego Comic Con. Past guests have included Billy Dee Williams, Rogue One screenwriter Gary Whitta, Kevin Thompson, and Daniel Logan.

Updates and details will be posted on the library's  YouTube page so keep an eye out there. With so much uncertainty over future public events for Star Wars and other entertainment, this is a great gesture from the library to keep the fun of Star Wars fandom going.
