This was designed to be the kind of sci-fi/fantasy/adventure film many kids -- and adults -- love. Talk about subjective----if the characters in Rebel Moon were 'one dimensional', what were the Lucas characters in the original Star Wars film?
Sooooooooo, top box office/top viewership numbers for a film can still be a big disappointment to the studio who made it if a lot of people were disappointed by it?
The audience score on Rottentomatoes was much higher when I checked it out but a 63 score still ain't bad. But I'm a little surprised you think we should take notice of its declining trend. Are you sure? Perhaps the movie's declining audience scores have been rigged. :) ;)

Yes, "A New Hope", a movie made about 50 years ago, didn't had the most unique and flesh out characters. But at least these character didn't had to tell you what they were capable of or how they felt. The movie showed it. Show, don't tell, you know?

Where did I say it was a big disappointment? I just said Netflix expected more. But bad reputation is still great marketing.
Furthermore there are lot of disappointing movies, which made it to number 1. At least box office wise. Just look at Star Wars. That a thing since the PT.

Maybe I'm hating too much in Rebel Moon, sure, but it kinda triggers me to see people saying Disney made a mistake here. Especially because gets the criticism of treating the source material and it's characters badly. But then there is Rebel Moon, which supposedly is the real Star Wars. But this movie doesn't even understand Star Wars. No, it makes Star Wars look like a cheap stereotype.

But hey, I don't need to like everything. In the end art is subjective. You like it? Good!

I watched Rebel Moon before the new year and found that many of the best parts didn't come from the movie itself, but from the inspirations behind the movie. Overall, I found it less than the sum of its parts and lacking. I'm hoping the full version will be better, but I'm really struggling to find the motivation to watch it after this letdown. I got through BvS: EU because of good word-of-mouth and because it was a superhero movie. I got through ZSJL because the story surrounding its release was just as good as the movie itself. This...well, I'll wait on feedback.
