I think it is part of the ominous tone they are setting. Revenge and Return and now the Last. I think the are using the color to denote the end of something before moving to something else. I don't think the Jedi are ending in a final sense I think they are moving to a rebirth of the Jedi.

    Death and endings.

ROTS was the end of the Rebublic and the Jedi Order
ROTJ was the end of the Empire and the Sith (it at least looked that way when the film was released)
TLJ will represent another ending. They haven't been too coy in the past. Luke has already said that it is time for the Jedi to end. My 2 ¢ is that Luke has come to the conclusion that the Jedi code by definition makes the rise of Dark Side users inevitable after watching the fall of Ben Solo. Figuring out if that is truly the case or a personal failure on his own part is why he went looking for the first temple and the Jedi origins.

It isn't too difficult to grasp from a storytelling standpoint and recent comments by RJ support a similar view by him. The real magic will be in how the story is told, not what story they are telling. I'd think that we aren't going to stray too far from the Joseph Campbell monomyth. After all, all of the great stories have already been told, and continue to be retold because they are in fact great stories and speak to more profound truths.

If they break from the Jedi it diminishes Luke's victory, makes Yoda a bad grand master, Obi-Wan a dupe and taits the promise of the Jedi that Obi-Wan put fourth in ANH, "The Jedi Knights were guardians of Peace and Justice in the Old Republic."

They are going to refocus expand some ideas. But no more Jedi is a bad move.

It's meant to reshape George Lucas's vision to what the filmmakers want Star Wars to be from they're childhood so they're doing what they want with it because they can. Darker usually = a mature mature tone so the red would signify that the movie would move in an. Completely different tone especially since this is a Middle trilogy and not the end of the trilogy like the other red logos

What if it is a pattern though...(ROTS ROTJ ROTS ROTJ?) So next up would be the Fall of The Jedi and POSSIBLY, the rise of the sith again=depends on Snoke Identity. The undelined one is the phase we're now in...IMO.
