If I had to use one word to describe Hyperspace Stories, it would be 'fun.' The anthology series doesn't have any big revelations like in other Star Wars comics, no overarching story arcs, or huge action set pieces. But what it does have is a good understanding of the characters and why we love them.

In Hyperspace Stories issue #8, the series returns to the sequel trilogy to focus on Kylo Ren and General Hux. What's so great about the pair is that both wield extreme destructive power, yet both can be very immature. They both make inexperienced decisions and often get in one another's way.

It's no different in issue #8. The two bicker, annoy one another and hamper each other's progress, even though they're working towards the same goal. And that's what makes it fun. It's cartoonish. It's like watching two siblings at home fighting one another, and in the process, end up burning the whole house down.

The premise of the comic is simple: Kylo Ren and General Hux have to work together to bring down a small group of resistants on the planet Karaxis. But both of them have different ways of going about it. Both of their attempts lead to chaos and disorder, especially as both of them nip at one another's heels.

The two couldn't be more different from one another. The pair is a great contrast as Kylo Ren takes a more violent, hot-headed approach to the situation, whereas General Hux takes a more methodical one. Eventually, they end up in circumstances way over their heads, and seeing them get out of it is where the comic's charm comes from. And seeing their reckless, apathetic attitude toward violence and destruction is cathartic, especially since it's not something seen often in Star Wars.

The big star of the issue is the art, particularly, the coloring done by Dan Jackson. Colorists are often the unsung heroes of comics, but here, I have to give praise to them as the vibrancy of the hues is extremely eye-catching and does a great job of capturing the visual style of the sequel trilogy. One element of the sequel trilogy that always stuck with me was how the lenses and camera work made the colors and tones pop. It rarely felt desaturated. And it's the same here as the colors are clean, simple, and easy to follow.

There is one problem I have with the comic. There's a story thread brought up near the end that I feel doesn't go anywhere. I almost wish it was either left out or, given one more issue to be fully explored. But besides that, Hyperspace Stories is a fun comic for those who want more Kylo Ren and General Hux, and for those who want to experience more chaotic stories in their lives.
