Star Wars wiki states this as canon: Mandalore was subsequently occupied by the Galactic Empire, which established a campus there for training military cadets.

Sabine and Satine are very similar in name. Could this be her daughter from a relationship with who? Perhaps it is no other than Ben Kenobi's child...

add to this the following from Behind the Name website that states the following...
According to legend, the Romans abducted several Sabine women during a raid, and when the men came to rescue them, the women were able to make peace between the two groups. This name was borne by several early saints.

Sabine is a name that is all about 'peace-making'...the irony of the character is that she seems to be anarchy to some degree...yet in her encounters we have seen that she seems to bring peace in many instances to the issues that are occuring...could this be linking her to her mother SATINE?

I always look for connections...as I think we will see a lot of connections. This could also lead to a spin off movie for Ben Kenobi with Satine

If Satine and Sabine are relatives, I think they are aunt/niece, Sabine being Bo-Katan's daughter

Sabine and Satine are both first names, and doubt there is any relation between the two.

The show presented us with secrets behind the major characters and that's amazing. I hope someday they'll bring everyone's past to the screen. That's the only reason I want flashback episodes in Rebels.

The similarity is pretty obvious. Except for those two little "horns", and a few other details, they have pretty much the same "eyes" and "eyebrows"

I think it's fairly likely that Sabine is the daughter of Satine and Obi Wan.
The age and time frame fits.
It expands on Obi Wan's story from TCW (notice there were no stories involving Mace or Yoda's love interest.)
It establishes another solid link to TCW series, which would help draw in more viewers.
It might help explain the extra attention the writers have focused on Sabine, in relation to the story arc involving Fulcrum, if Fulcrum (Ahsoka) is indeed working with Bail Organa. Maybe Bail knows Sabine's parentage.
This isn't by any means definitive proof, but it is enough to support the theory.

All we know about Sabine is that "her family became negatively affected by the Empire."
The surname change could be due to hiding the child's identity after the murder of Satine, the fall of New Mandalore, and her father being a Jedi.

Great post, Catfish! I'm kind of upset there was already a thread about this.:)

According to IMBD, Sabine has a painted picture of Cad Bane on a wall of her quarters on the Ghost.

In Clone Wars, Cad Bane had relations with Darth Sidious ala the Emperor. He also once captured Ahsoka Tano ala Fulcrum.

Could she secretly be working for the Empire to give them information on the Rebels?

Could this be why her past is a secret? Could she secretly be hiding her true identity?

Not sure what episode this is, but this image shows it.

I'm not so sure I'd chalk it up to anything necessarily shady. She probably has some stuff in her background she'd rather not speak of, wearing Mandalorian armor and possibly having had a stint as a bounty hunter, but it doesn't mean she'd be working with the Imperials.

I'd like to note that Cad Bane's head itself is blasting off in that picture, and the other bounty hunter (Embo I think) has a heart drawn around it. They also appear to be fighting, so with the heart she seems to support Embo over Cad. They both worked with Sidious though so I don't know what to make of that.

That's an awesome easter egg! If she is an empire spy, it would explain why she was so gun ho on meeting Fulcrum. Perhaps, she's nothing more than a bounty hunter. I can't wait till season two!

I super agree. I have a friend named Shawn and another named John. The similarity between the first names doesn't indicate anything.

Interesting theory, but I'm chalking it up to folk hero art, like college kids with Che Guevara. Rebellion and all that.

Sabines Backstory will play an important role in Season 2 - just recall TCW and Mandalore. :)
And I guess that Sabine and Ezra will fall in love and produce offsprings. ^__^

I do hope she is not related to Obi-Wan. He was the best Jedi there was, all things taken into account, and one of the rare that seemed to manage the "no attachment" rule. He was even able to turn against Anakin, when that was required. I don't think he'd have done anything with Satine beyond what was given in TCW.

I think most TV show characters should have had an influence, even a big effect on the galaxy, but movie characters will ALWAYS be more remembered, more analyzed, and in essence, more important on face-value alone. Making Sabine a Kryze-Kenobi is interesting and all, but why make the galaxy smaller? That's what the EU had a problem with, and it's been handled well here, with really Admiral Sloane being the major recurring character, and I guess Snap Wexley a bit too. Make her an Ashoka. Obviously, a huge part of Anakin the character, and another powerful reason for his fall, with Padme's supposed death as the final straw, but even without her, was she going to affect the movies? Not really, but that's also why she worked so well. She had her place, she was very well used, and she's beloved. Yet she's also just a small course-portion of the entire Skywalker saga. She was herself, and that is what made her such a fascinating character, because she didn't have anything to tie her down. If this seems a bit off track, just trying to make a connection here :p
