When the Force Awakens is released on VHS I wonder how long the lines will be at Sam Goody or Musicland? Will they keep the mall open late and have a 12 midnight release? Will there be Special Edition box with film negatives. So many questions..... Your thoughts on sales..

will it be the highest sold VHS ever?

    purely humorous people.....

VHS is the new vinyl. Can't wait to put my copy of The Force Awakens next to my 3-wide OT Vader box-set and gold Special Editions!

VHS? bah, Betamax is the format you guys want to be keeping an eye on.

    OT
It is nice having a physical copy of something like this, don't think a digital download would cut it.

Sam Goody...Oh man, I forgot about that one! Reminds me of Musicland...which ultimately was the same company as SG, then bought out by Best Buy that screwed it up. Now BB isn't the most stable either.....wow.

In 1980, my parents bought an RCA Videodisc player, and it was SO COOL!! Only problem is that you had to flip the disc halfway through SW, and DON'T EVEN THINK of bumping the player because it would skip and then the movie was ALL messed up....ahhh, the days.! :)

If I ever get my hands on a time machine, I'll head straight back to the 80s! (Ok, the 70s would be sweet too, but the 80s overall were weirder, AND you could listen to 70s music in the 80s, so you wouldn't miss much). I still have my old OT VHS' in storage somewhere... I wonder if they'll play anymore?

Pics or it never happened!!! jk. I'm 42 now, but some of my greatest memories from when I was young was waiting in line for concert tickets. When I was 16 we camped out at a mall for 2 days for Rolling Stones tickes (89). I can't believe the mall even allowed it, it would probably never happen these days. It was a wild scene, nothing like the lines for the new iphones!

Remember buying the 'one last time' OOT VHS versions in 1994 or 1995 at Nobody Beats the Wiz.

I have Superman and SW on videodiscs in my garage. I have a videodisc player as well. So cool @Trevor that you had that. Sometimes I break out the old school stuff to get that feeling. I have the ISP- special box set Vhs of the original Trilogy that I watch from time to time. Miss those days....

And since the movie is over 2 hours long, it will come in the two tape set.

Oh yeah, I remember unwrapping the player for Christmas (I'm dating myself) and then the discs. I remember my mom taking the still wrapped discs out of my hands and making us open the player first....and then the SW toys....what a time. The players (at that time) were quite expensive, but my parents sprung for one...what a cool time. I watched SW over and over and over for the next several days until mom made me stop. Wow....

Great memories @Trevor and thanks for sharing. You were lucky to have that, that stuff was so expensive. I can remember my dad saving up for months for a BETA player. Different times.... memories that we will never forget.

I hope we get the special edition VHS with the up to date CGI and an extra scene with Jabba's son talking to Poe. That'd be great! I wonder what movies will be advertised before the real movie starts. That's how I find out what to buy next.

Did anyone else purchase the deluxe VHS box set of Phantom Menace that had the film frame included? I still have mine, with a film frame of Darth Maul.

We should file a lawsuit on Lucasfilm for false advertising:

1995: 'One last time' OOT VHS boxset released, only to release them on DVD in 2006.

2005: Lucas tells Leslie Stahl on 60 Minutes that ROTS is the last SW movie and there was never a Sequel Trilogy as he snickered at her question.

2011: 'The Complete Saga' Bluray Boxset is released, as 1 year later the ST is announced.

I've got the full screen versions of the OT on VHS right here! I needed full screen because I had to watch them on a 13 inch television. Aspect ratio? What aspect ratio?

I missed the Laserdisc generation, but the 1993 OT Boxset looks like an awesome set for its time along with all the extras. I still see it on EBay.
